BT 003 cold tearing?

Postby lifeofcrimeguy » Wed Jan 28, 2009 5:35 pm

I have a few hard compound 003s and want to save a bit of money buy using them for the road. Soft front (which wont be put on anytime soon), and hard rear which would be put on pretty soon. Do I have to worry about damage when commuting purposes? Commuting is usually 50/50 between 0:45-1:15 in traffic and 15 minute no traffic trips. I know my friends BT016s used to have chunks missing from them when he got to work in the morning on cold days...

Hey, just asking because of what I saw with the bridgeys :P. And yes, yes I am. I figured it was about time he/I started using a real bike!

Can't! Too busy watching that oncoming truck and wondering how BikeBiz think they can charge $45 for a DVD with my name on it. Silly people. Give me another couple hundred K's and I'll have a rather more grippy rear tire than I currently enjoy!

Did that a few years ago on the 2fiddie. Mister Poleece Maan didn't like my extra grip argument too much...

What did he charge you with? Or did you just get an unroadworthy?

from the bridgey website

Care and Use at Low Temperature
Battlax BT-003 Racing tyres may crack in the tread area from impact or deformation at low ambient temperature. It is recommended to handle and store the tyres with care. Use of the "Tyre Warmer" before ride is also recommended.

and

(*): BT-003 Racing is street legal racing tyre but development is dedicated for track use.

Dave, the tires were stockers when he bought the GSXR1000 in July. I don't think the 16s come in dif compounds. He really did love them though. Only got 2000 out of the rear but he is psycho.
Owen, part of the reason I asked the question. I got three I may as well use one and see what happens...
Mark, I was a youngin on my Ls and a clean record. So he was kind and just gave me defect which cost $17 to clear. Good bloke actually.
