Well you don't often see an opportunity like this presented every day!?
[Though myself I'd make the surly ol bugger clean his own bike  ]

I reckon the day would be well worth it for those willing to LISTEN and LEARN>
The amount of threads I see regarding bare basic repairs tells me many just need a little guidance and some hands on experience to give them the confidence to carry out basic bike maintenance [and save a shit load of coin!!] Is always a good chance for those already in the game to learn of each other and help out as required also.[NOBODY knows EVERYTHING!]

Here's your chance people!! ----- How many TAFE courses are (A) FREE (B) offer BBQ and piss!!! :kuda: :kuda:

Sorry for lack of details and replying to PM's during the week. First week back at work on Monday and I just got home.
OK then Let me just re-iterate, everybody is welcome. If you are new to the forum and would like to meet some of the crew then come along. If you have a wealth of experience in motorcycle maintenance and would like to give your input then come along. If you have no ability or lack confidence then definitely come along. The day is about getting to know one another and getting to know basic bike mechanics. There will be alot of hands on and technical discussion but I plan to keep it simplistic - don't wear your best white shirt! Depending on time I plan to cover;
1. Chain maintenance - check, clean, adjust, lube
2. Wheel bearings - check, replace
3. Head stem bearings - Check, grease,
4. Engine oil and filter replacement
5. Air filter - clean and fit
6. Clutch - Adjust, cable inspection, lube and replacement
7. Brakes - Inspection, fluid flush and bleeding, pad replacement, inspection
8. Throttle - adjustment, inspection, cable lube, replacement
9. How and why to clean your bike - Refer Mick :D
10. Suspension - Check, lube, adjustment
11. Lights and electrics.

I am avoiding valve clearances and carb sync because there simply wont be time. This is really just about doing simple things with simple tools and equipment that can save the average rider alot of coin on service costs and hopefully give enough confidence not only to tackle these things but to want to push further. Major servicing can come later. If on the day it does all prove to be too simplistic then I am willing to go further but only after the above has been covered.
I have numerous components that will be used on the bench as "learning tools" that everyone is welcome to tear down and re-assemble as well as a live subject that has to be ridden home at the end of the day. Everyone will get their hands on the tools.
Having said that if anybody that is riding out on the day needs or wants work done then say so and I, or someone else on the day should be able to assist you, or you can go it alone. probably best to discuss this on the morning and see how we are going to go.
Planning on a 9am start. If those that have indicated they are interested could be here by then that would be appreciated. Those that can't make it by then, no worries, BBQ should be on by about 1.
I am not willing to give up my address on the open forum. Anybody that I have not gotten back to as yet via PM with my address then simply post below and I will send it through to you via PM.
Anybody that is vegetarian and does not wish to take part in the BBQ then also let me know so I can tell you that vegetables are what food eats and that you should HTFU!
I think thats about it
Adrian
