Peg board is too expensive, plus the pegs fall out.
Use a sheet of MDF or melamine. Place it flat on the bench. Lay your tools out in position and bang in some screws to hold them in position. Then hang the board up and hang your tools. Viola! Find em every time. Unless like me you've spent more than 2 hrs in the garage and used everything on the board and cant find anything because you dont put them back :D .
Outines are for Fags and sociopaths.
Throw all that imperial shit in the bin, thats what shifters are for. Unless your a closet Harley owner. The Metric system was introduced in 66 - 42 years ago! Why cant you get a decent priced tool set in this day and age without all the useless tools you'll never use? Yes I know they are out there and yes I Iknow there are many car enthusiasts that still play with Fords and GM what use this odd imperial system. I have looked and not found - if anyone can point towards a well priced and quality metric only tool set please do.
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

Well I agreed with everything but this bit, as I'm neither...

Outlines are actually so you can tell which tools your kids have taken to tinker with their bikes, rollerblades or scooters AND LEFT IN THE EFFING RAIN. Then you can go find them and deduct the exact amount from their pocket money...and they get a rusty tool in return. Normally this only has to be done once. Per child.

I have vowed never to buy a vehicle that requires imperial-sized tools again, hence I only have metric spanners/sockets (and four different sized shifters).

Actually that's not 100% true - I do have few imperial spanners as I have found a few on the side of the road over the years. Alas for some reason they all seem to be 1/2" / 9/16" ring or open-ended spanners :?.

Given that beer has been around long before all else I still have to use imperial sizes daily at work. All sizes are still imperial. Most common are 9/16 and 5/8 plus 1 1/16 for spanners. Our standard beerlines are still imperial mixed with metric smaller dia risers and such. its a PITA having to mix and match new and old equipment. Partly because beside from my employer everything comes from OS and thus Europe or the good ol'.

Yep - take the pegboard and those f'n pegs, and place the lot into a local skip.

Problem fixed !!

Tools go in the toolbox. Not on the wall !!

yep shadow boards are for old primary producers who can't find their tools...cos they leave them all over the shed like most of us..........well me anyway....and tool boxes are something you trip over in the dark looking for a light switch....to find the tools you should have put back in the tool box... :P
