The word "Og?y" now removed

Postby MadKaw » Tue Nov 25, 2008 8:41 am

Due to a request from the manufacturer, we have censored the word "Og?y" and it will now be replaced with the word "crash"..

Hence why I have added ? to replace the g....

We have been reminded that "the phrase "Og?y Knobbs" is not a generic term, it is a trademark and use of this term incorrectly can cause confusion in the market place..."
The only way we can assure the manufacturer that our members do not miss use there name is to auto edit the word Og?y.

We are currently in the process or rectifying all miss used references at the manufacturers request...

Well since we can't say the 'Og?y' word petty fuckers aren't they ... Perhaps this thread could be about the other crash knobs that can be sourced through our sponsors? I mean, since we have been misusing the 'O' brand name and must be extremely careful to refrain from using the 'O' word unless we're actually talking about the 'O' brand, perhaps it's time we err on the side of caution and talk about the alternatives?

So sponsors - what non-O crash knobs can you guys offer?
Tell us ALL about them. Do they offer similar protection to OTHER crash knobs? Did they fit a similar range of bikes as the OTHER crash knobs do? Are they a better price than OTHER crash knobs?

That reminds me of another company that did not register the name Jetski for their brand of Personal Water Craft.
Now Jetski is a generic term for all PWC and as a result the company that owned the name have no control of it.
If people are refering to the crash knobs by a specific name then surley that is free marketing. When someone walks into a shop and asks for Og&y Knobs then that would be the product they are given, not another brand. I would have thought the more their name is used the more product they sell.
Remember, half the people you know are below average.

Seems that some people are against "free" marketing

Same with Rollerblades, Hoovers, Coke, Stanley Knives and Speedo's - All brandnames that have become known as the items.

MOST companies would kill for this type of brand recognition!

But to comply with their request, i shall hence forth only talk about my Knob

Oh wait, I'll just "Google" it. I don't see Google complaining about that. Almost everyone in England says they are going to hoover the carpet, no matter what brand they own. I see this an idiotic ansd senseless excercise that will do nothing but harm the brand.

Also, what if I happen to own or want to own OggyKnobs? Am I going to be censored even if I am referring to their brand?

Oh, and it's a restriction of free speach and I'm outraged. It's not like we go about slating the reputation of specific brands (with the exception oh Honhonhonda, Yamahahahaha, Spwesuki, Hardly Dangerous etc........)

Are you saying we got pulled up for referring to crash knobs as crash knobs  (he he whenever I typed O g g y it replaces it with crash, can we replace crash with knob jockey. Then we could call them knobjockey knobs What if someone actually does have crash knobs though? Are they then allowed to refer to them as crash knobs?

..and given that this is a public forum what right do they have to stop anyone from saying what they bloody well want. So what as soon as I type crash will a dozen black pyjama clad ninja's jump out of a blackhawk and take me away.(can i say Ninja or is that someones trademark also. mmm I'm sure there's a bike called a Ninja somewhere)

crash knobs are overpriced anyway. My Rated R crash knobs, which by the way are the same as kanegs only pete didn't have black ones at the time are just fine, and about 1/4 of the price.

Sounds like they've just employed a new marketing knob who has no idea. Surely when some dude walks into a bike shop and asks for O g g y knobs this actually works for them.

Phaarkin knobs!!!!!!!

Just put "o*g*g*y" into Wiki - among other things it refers to a Cornish pasty (probably more effective as crash protection !!!).
