er6 sensor

Postby dilligaf » Sun Nov 16, 2008 4:50 pm

This seems to be sorted but still don't know what went wrong. Have a 2007 ER6-N.
Went for a little run a few weeks back, got about 10k from home and the oil pressure/high temp light comes on.
(a combined light on the er6, no temp gauge). Stuffed around a bit checking coolant and oil and got it home without
it happening again. It was due for 12000k service so I book it in and the light comes and at the end of the street when I try to ride it to the dealer. Put it on a truck cause I don't know what the f**#er is doing. Dealer farts around with it for a few days, said it was corrosion on the high temperature sensor. Get it home, head off for a run and it comes on again after 10k but only intermittently when I roll off. Back to the dealer. OK for the first 10k riding up then its on again when I'm rolling off. No light when I'm stopped or riding smoothly. The mechanic managed to reproduce it this time but neither they nor kawasaki could diagnose the problem. They checked all the switches, wiring and sensors again and its now fine. WTF?

Hmm- had my 2007 ER6F for about 12000kms and it never did that!

(Thought only Suzuki's had stupid warning light issues that couldn't be fixed  )

I think the dealer is just trying to take the easy way out all the time but its still under warranty so I don't want to mess with it myself. Leaking a bit of coolant from the overflow tube after any decent ride now so its a problem with the radiator.
