The degreaser has slovents in it that are no good for the orings in your chain.... it seeps past the orings & disolves the lube under contained under

+1robracer . looks good and clean outside but does damages the o-rings completely

Thats the reason I still have a three quarter full can of the stuff in my garage, along with a half-full can (hey, when you need lube, you need lube right?) of "Weldtite advanced chain lubricant with graphite".

I also have a can of Castrol motorcycle chain lube which was almost as bad as the Shell Advanced, it did fling a lot but lasted a bit longer...

These days I will only buy Motul chain lube....... because I know it works.
The world is round. It has no point.

I too use Belray white wax, i used to use the Belray yellow stuff, but dam wat a mess! The white wax (super clean i think its called) its great. give your chain a good scrub up, clean and dry it off, get a bit of heat into the chain and go nuts with it! Its bright white also so you can see everywhere u sprey it, including your rims and wheel hubs and eveyrthing else!
But it stays on for ages, plus doesnt make a mess and it isnt sticky so rocks and dirt and crap wont cake up on it!

If you guys cant find it let me know and i can go buy it, i think its about $25 for a big can and $15 for a small can, just let me know and i will get it for yas!

Ummm careful all you Bellray fans..

This stuff is awesome on dirt squirters but on the 10 I found 6 or 7 tight links / shocking chain noise in less than 2000K's.
FYI I always do the chain hot and every 500 or so km......ie every ride pretty much!!

Don't get me wrong , I love the stuff on my dirtbikes and have done since about 85 or so.

Cost me a set of cogs and another RK XW chain on the 10 though  :x

IMO 2c worth

My pick is Yamalube .

Very interesing to hear a bit of feedback .. Maybe I had a dud can perhaps??

I also drown the chain in lube (from the inside - chain warm) after each ride then allow it to cool and penetrate before riding again. Chain is always kept immaculate with kero etc every month or so then re lubed . Not exactly a newbie to motorcycle maintenance but we are always learning ;) ;)

Yes i know wat u mean ? Was it you or someone else, just trying ot think back tha was getting some rediculous amount of low km's out of the rear tyre ?
Maybe you have the chain to tight ? LOL my mate with the R1 went up 3 on the rear and left the stock front sprocket and didnt change the chain so it was so dam tight, every time he came off hte throttle hte amount of compression in the motor would cause the back wheel the comp lock up! haha

Yeah re tyres , 3rd rear fitted yesterday in 12,000 odd km. Put a brand new set of Corsa III's on her so will see how she goes with the right rear profile this time!? [ Could ease off a bit of throttle but where's the fun in that???? ]
Chain tension is kept at 25mm.

hmmm i reckon chain might have been a dud perhaps, unlikely but perhaps, dam 12,000kms for the 3rd set is baaaaadddddd, i think those "crankin on the throttle hard tricks" is whats eating up them tyres!

Maybe run some Mich Pilot Road 2's, bit harder in the middle good for more daily riding, but on the track pretty kick arse also cause the outer edge of the tyre is soft like a PP

25mm is on the tight side and doesn't allow enough for high/low spots nor suspension compression so try 30-33mm and your CS output shaft will like it much better.. ;)

Yeah spot on BD ,30 -35mm is factory spec with bike on side stand , 25mm is a baseline I have used with weight in the bike , works out pretty much spot on 33mm on side stand as per factory specs.

Saki , have been talking to a few of the crew around here recently and it is quite common for softer performance tyres to get chewed up at between 2 - 3000km . I think most of it has to do with riding on dirty roads ie haul trucks from the mines leave a lot of crap on the roads so is like riding on sandpaper!? Not good for fairings or tyres (specially when you leave a few mm behind out of corners frequently 8) ) - Pirelli's are great for blackies!! LOL
PR-2-s next though defo!!

Im back... My thread has evolved... ! ;) and it's all good..
just before i disapeared i had issues with the radiator guard.. and as part of the suck up package from the guard company..
i recieved a can of Fuchs Silkolene lube.. awsome stuff.. best i've tried so far.. no fling and great for the long kms i ride.. ** and definately spray on the inside so it works its magic..

re: Tyres.. im on my second set on the Z and just clicked over 12,100kms (after a nail in the front after about 2,000 and rear gone just on 6,000km (stocky's!!) ive never run bridgestone before .. sport touring medium compound has done well and im going to squeeze another 1,500-2,000 out of it over the silly season..

All for suggestions on tried and tested hard wearing long km tyres.. 8)
It all comes down to how you ride it.....
