newbie needs help with 2009 Ninja 250 exhaust/muffler

Postby the_shez » Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:28 pm

Hi Guys

Now i know your probably all sick of hearing this question, i had a good hour look around the site trying to find something similar but no luck... hence me writing this one.

Now i've just bought a 2009 Ninja 250r (i'm in Australia, NSW), i havnt actually got it yet but i've heard it start up and i'm hoping to get it sound abit louder and meatier. I heard there's some kind of exhaust/muffler you can get which makes in sound like a WRX. I know next to knowing about bikes so this may all sound alittle silly. I'm after a decent brand and item which isnt going to cost me a leg, preferably around or under the $300 AUS mark. There's no way i'll be able to attach/install it myself so i'd need to get that done obviously. Any suggestions/comments/ideas would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks Guys =)

Probably gonna be $500 or more if its fitted, and then you dont know how much performace you gain. :P
Let the good times roll.

well for that money you'd have to find a second hand one... i had a two brothers exhaust on mine and it sounded mean, but it was loud... some of the members will attest to that.... if u shout one of us sydney members (ie me) a 6 pack of beer we'd do it for you... assuming you are in NSW...

i think there is an exhaust post in the lams bike discussino area that outlines a few of the options....

well i got a bit of a deal, because they dropped the ball on my order.... i ordered aluminium because it was the cheapest but ended up getting the cf for a price midway between the price of aluminium and cf.... i think landed it was somewhere between 400-450... but the dollar was at 94c then ;)

well i spose i could go up to about $800, i think i'm after carbon fiber, which doesnt really mean much to me except i know that it's lightweight and good. i had a look on the net but i don't really know what i'm looking for. how do i know if it will fit? how do i know if it's a good brand?

do they actually give you perfomance? or is it all noise? i'm in NSW, Sydney City area.

unless u got the carburettors re-jetted u may not get any gains at all... its mainly for looks and sound...

the yoshimura looks the best i think but two brothers sounds the best...

if you go to morepowerracing.com.au (american site tho) and search mufflers from the various manufacturers... you should be able to select the bike (ninja 250).. if they dont list the bike then they dont make a muffler for the bike...

just try googling these brands for starters...

yoshimura
two brothers
leo vince sbk
jardine
muzzy
area P

all these mufflers will give u a weight gain over the stock pipe however i dont think the cf ones would be much lighter than other options...

post up a pic of your bike in the photos section... we always like to perve on people's pride and joy...

what's the difference between a "slip on" and "complete"?? that morepowerracing.com.au site is great! i will definitly have pictures up when she gets here, gotta think of a name now!

complete comes from the engine right the way back ie it replaces the whole shebang... slip on replaces just the end bit... ie the big long cylinder that kawasaki calls a muffler...

well in terms of performance gains vs price, for the little 250n slip on is all you need... you won't gain a lot of power with the full system.. better to spend money on gear or servicing... ;) this is all in my opinion tho...
