Dayle Koch, 16, died after inhaling butane gas.

Partygoers attempted to revive Perth teenager Dayle Koch by slapping her across the face before taking her to hospital 22 minutes after collapsing from inhaling butane gas, a coroner has been told.

According to a report on news website PerthNow, the Perth Coroner's Court yesterday heard Dayle's eyes rolled back in her head immediately after inhaling the gas in a friend's car in Kelmscott park on May 13, 2006.

But instead of calling an ambulance or taking her to hospital, the 16-year-old was taken back to a nearby party.

People at the party slapped Dayle, pumped her chest and threw cold water at her in an attempt to revive her before putting her in a bath.

She was then taken to Armadale Hospital at 11.40pm, 22 minutes after falling unconscious.

Dayle was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

Alcohol and cannabis were also found in her system.

Several witnesses are set to testify they saw Dayle inhale butane at the house before her fatal trip to the park with several friends.

The court also heard Dayle bought two cans of butane, chocolates and cigarettes with her debit card at a Kelmscott BP outlet before the party.

Police later found four cans of butane, including one half-full, at the party house.

Dayle's family claim the aspiring make-up artist was too responsible to voluntarily take butane and was being bullied into taking the gas.

Butane gas, commonly sold for cooking and camping, is known to create a mood-altering emotional high when inhaled.

just so so sad, drunk stoned and inhaling butane

and so sad that her friends didnt know what to do either.... and i find it hard to believe she was such an angel as her parents say, drunk and high sounds to me like she is no angel...

Yep waste of a young life.

A young bloke my son knew went to bed on friday night after a party absolutely shitfaced and was found dead on Sat Morning apparently asphyxiated (spelling) just simply from drinking way too much.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Unfortunately parents more often than not turn a blind eye to what their kids are doing. I have never understood the need to get off your face to have fun (in any way.) It seems that with each generation their 'socially acceptable' way of having fun is becoming more and more dangerous. Although I do know of people from my generation that have so much brain damage from chronic alcohol consumption that they live in a parallel universe. Maybe the kids these days just kill themselves quicker with recreational drugs...... very sad.

I would jump so quickly to blame the parents!!! she was 16 and at what age do you let your children out of your sight for more than 5 minutes????

you cant be there 24/7

I also think you would be niave to think that what kids get up to today is any more or less dangerous than what was done 30 years ago.
- Roman candles (now illegal)
- pot (always was illegal)
- magic mushies (always was illegal)
- drink driving (unpoliced if you could still walk  )
- speeding (unpoliced to a certain extent compared to now)
the list goes on!!!!

at a certain age someone needs to be resposible for there own life.We are one of the most over goverened countries in the world and dont get me wrong what happened is a tragedy but at some point it comes a case of natural selection!!!

It's another forum of huffing, you know, where idiots would inhale aerosols after using a rag or something to block the liquid being propelled by the propellant 9usually butane or other hydrocarbons). Some dumb shit did it in an electronics class when i was in y11, fucker collapsed and took ot two people on chairs next to him. idiot.
