Thanks to SBS, I've got some spare time on Monday nights now. I expected it to be crap and they didn't let me down.

The old guy was unbearable to listen to.

The short guy was unbearable to watch.

The other guy was just a wanker all 'round.

We won't be tuning in again.

I will however, be sending SBS an email, letting them know they just lost one of the 1 million viewers who tuned in to watch Top Gear UK every week.

+1

you want "top gear australia", not "uk top gear copied in australia". cant help but think that as soon as they showed that to clarkson and the other host's (i'm sure they would have) they all would have pissed themeselves laughing. At us, not with us.

I disagree. The Stig is an idea, or a concept, and not a particular person. I'd like to see the UK Stig and the Australian Stig have a drive off. :)

Those who expected this show to be exactly like the UK version probably shouldn't have bothered watching it in the first place. Top Gear itself is now a concept and that is what SBS bought into - much like a franchise for McDonalds or Subway. I liked the fact that they made the set the same, kept similar stories etc and I watched it with an open mind.

They've obviously chosen hosts who are similar personalities to the UK version for a reason. And that reason is because those same personality types work so well together in UK Top Gear. Why change a formula that is already working? To have the best chance of success, you'd look at what is already working and try and replicate it, whilst at the same time putting your own spin on things. It will take a while for these blokes to let their nerves setlle and start to find their own rythm.

A couple of things need a bit of polish. The test track was abysmal!! Charlie Cox needs to stop yelling!! Someone at SBS needs to learn how to edit a story together.

I for one will be back to see how this progresses.

But, that's the problem. SBS tried to make it exactly like the UK version.....and failed.

I certainly won't be back until they p*ss it off and put the UK show back on.

I agree, the sand dune jump was pretty funny!

Any ideas on who the stig might be?? I know they tried to make out it was the UK stig but that gut wasn't fooling anyone! My guess is Ian Luff!

The way he carried himself, I thought it might be Craig Lowndes.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery so they say, they tried to do the UK show with aussie accents and failed and it amazed me because I watched the Peking to Paris renactment and the cartoon guy was quite entertaining in yet last night he like the other 2 looked they had a broom up there arse. I'll give next week a shot but they need a 1000% improvement over last nights efforts.

Having been a huge fan of TG UK I'm prepared to give TG AUST some time. Watching series 1 of the new format Top Gear UK and there is almost no audience present - the hall echos with their voices, the conversations are stilted and not much real flow to the show. It really took them until season 3 before it settled into some kind of groove.

They are not JC / RH / JM and it's obviously going to take some time to create their own "presence" - so I'm happy to give them some time.

In the meantime TG UK is due to recommence in October for series 12 - now that I'm looking forward to!

Cheers,
Wayne :D

Seen series 12 already?? It's not been televised yet so I'd be very interested in seeing it early.

11 was pretty good - loved the fuel consumption test - the Audi R8 is the supercar to buy if you're trying to save money on petrol.

Cheers,
