Hey all,

just want to know a few things about why my bike is running abit funny.

1st, i took my muffler of to give it a spit shine and before i took it of the bike was running fine. Now i feel that as i have put it back on and its the same way as it was before, it seems a bit less quieter and over 13,000 rpm dosent quite feel like before, its still abit tight.

2nd, theres more of a whine now when im reving the bike and releasing, kind of sounds like its from the gearbox. might be normal, might not be? i don't know.

3rd, someone took my bike for a ride and my back brakes had very very very minimal pads on them so i only relied on the front, this bloke must of slammed the back brakes and not only did he finsih what was left of my pads but had a go at the rotor itself so i know need a new rotor

Bike just feels like crap, not fun to ride anymore, just dosne't feel the same as before.

HELP!

I suspect this is slightly up to the imagination, i would check for leaks, and possibly take the can off again and use exhaust sealant goop to seal the join.

Nothing wrong with a whine given that all the gears are straight cut, none of this helical cut bizzo. Also how are oil levels and how old is te oil? that may also be a factor if its louder. Also as an indicator, how easy is it to get it into gear/change gears? if its a bit more tricky then its certainly a indicator the oil needs a change.

Have you physically checked it to see & confirm its getting metal on metal contact? or is it just squealing like the pads aren't quite seated correctly. Also if body is taken off the rotor, has it taken a tiny bit of? (hey it happens) or is it looking quite messy?

As above, im sure its not as bad as your making it out to be, perhaps some of it is in your imagination as well?

I'm sure there is no exhaust leak becuase when i cover the muffler tip it holds it and when i realse its normal. and back pressure technique.

the oil is fine it has been hcnaged 500k's ago but i got 2 oil leaks but nevertheless it hasn't droped oil levels dramatically.

and as for the brake rotors, now it has past the pad scarping while you push the bike, it has bit of metal residue on the rotor, might be the last of the pads? i haven't used the rear brakes since so it dosen't look healthy. and its rough as guts when you rub your fingers across the rotor.

i haven't rode the bike for almost 2 weeks, it started fine but do you think it could be the carbie? or spark plugs?

and as for the oil leak one is coming under there the gear selector is connected to the gearbox and the other is under a seal near the engine cover.

lastly i thought it was my imagination but as i drove past a few friends even they told me the bike sounds different, wasn't as mean as before.

both easy to fix, former sounds like it is a output shaft or gear selecter shaft o ring leak, easy enough to replace. The side cover, easy again. :)

Erk, doesn't sound promising, Initially i would say just get new pads, take the old caliper off and see what's up. But if the disc is all chewed up then yeah, you may be able to get it machined if theres enough wiggle room, but as some discs have 0.5mm between new and limit, you may not be that lucky. If you feel it may be machineable just take it to a machine shop and see what they say.

drain fuel floats, take plugs out, clean 'em out.

im not sure what could have changed the tone, perhaps the wadding in the can is a bit iffy now? that is if it is an aftermarket can.

Thanks mike,
ill give a few things a go and see what the outcome is, first i might get new wave brake rotors, ive always wanted them so that might be the fix, im just trying to look around.

ill do a few heavy maintence checks on the spark plugs and feul system.

just with the seals, you reckon i could pull it of or would i have to open up a few things. i don't mind taking it to the shop,

BUT im not taking it to the shop the way it is, i would be charged easy over $1500
