Bike cutting out

Postby Gazza » Mon Aug 18, 2008 8:44 pm

problem i think :?

its happend to me twice now
when i am gearing down to stop , my bike just cuts out and stalls and its not like when you run out of fuel
it just cuts out straight away.
possible problems
1. both times it has cut out the choke has been involved (well on the second occasion anyway ) and im wondering weather or not this would effect
the bike when riding.
second time was today on my way home from work. i had the choke on, with the reves just over 1k and when i geared down to stop at the lights
it just cut out.

2. could be a possible fault in my side stand sensor.

3.is it a bad idea or bad for the bike to ride it with the choke on?

4. any suggestions would be appreciated.

It certainly sounds like the side stand sensor

Have a look and see if you see any wires that are bare that could be shorting it

And on the seventh day Richo ended his work which he had made. Decided resting was for soft cox, straddled the REX and headed up the old road.
And it was good

How much choke are we talking about here? just a little bit of it? or is it drowning the motor in excessive quantities of raw fuel? i would have thought that instead of stalling it would just send the bike into a high revving frenzy like when you leave the choke on too long when you warm it up.
