It's a beauty mate, congratulations :)
I had the old 2006 GPX250 before, it wasn't bad but looked like piece of.

Only thing I didn't like in the previous bike was the revs on freeway ... I think like 7000 revs at 100km/h and 1000 more for every 10km/h extra.

This new model is so cool! I went to sit on it today at our local dealer, and it felt so light after 3 months spent on Versys !!! Like my bicycle, almost! I loved it so much. :) I was even considering to buy this new GPX when I sold mine in December, but the high revs on freeway put me off - I have to go to Sydney once a week or so ...

I'm not at all a fan of this stupidity "look bigger, burn more fuel" unlike many who buy an 8l/100km 1000ccm and ride it like a postie bike :) - everything for image, if you know what I mean. This 250 is perfectly capable of anything you'll like it to do. :)

I've got to respectfully disagree - a 250 is OK as a road bike around town, but like you said they're pretty sucky on the freeway and not much fun for touring (think 4000 kms to PI and back in a week at 8000rpm). Most 250s are also pretty lacking in the suspension department, have limited choice of tyres, limited ground clearance, limited brakes, etc ... not to mention limited power.

Yes yes, all true and that's why I ride Versys now (which actually takes about the same amount of fuel as my 250 before! :))
Although this little GPX really rocks - I love it and except for long trips, I'd be happy to have it myself.

(Although I have done 1000km Sydney - Brisbane in 1 day a few months ago, taking it to its new owner, an eBay auction winner, and it was surprisingly OK !!! I still enjoyed a sightseeing ride around Brissy on the same night I arrived.)

Yeah as a commuter through town its fine. But at freeway speeds I think Ill pick up something bigger in a couple of years time when 1. I have a full licence and 2. When the resources permit! In the meantime its a pretty cool learners bike and thats all its really meant to be!!!

I'd back a well ridden Ninja 250 down Mount Hotham over a lot of more fancied and cc endowed machinery!! not just a great bike to learn on, but a great bike to learn how to serve it up to the guys with all the gear and no idea on!!!!!!!

At the first service Im getting a fender eliminator and wondering if its worth throwing on an exhaust??? Its sounds like my lawn mower right now... Would it give me any extra oomph? I know its only a 250 though... Would I be throwing my cash down the drain to do this?

id have to agree given my ride today following guys on ZX10R on the old road... there was no way i was gonna overtake them on the baby ninja..... and on the wide open sections you lose out but it was not too hard for me to stay at the pace that the bigger bikes were at......

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised with its cornering ability! I think the only thing keeping me back is some experience! Its quite a fun bike... Very Happy :)

Its worth the wait! There are a few of us in Sydney that have been on a ride with some of the crew here and it handles brilliantly! Cant wait for a day at Eastern Creek this weekend to really push some corners!
