ANZ Bank

Postby photomike666 » Fri Feb 01, 2008 11:06 am

Does anyone hare bank with ANZ, and do you have anything good to say about them?

I decided to move over to them recently and set up a joint Visa Debit account. Eventually a cards turned up and they were not Visa Debit - They had set up the wrong account.

So I called them to change the account, got passed between umpteen customer service morons and they finally set up a new account and told me I had to cancel the first account - but not that day with that CS person as their department was closed?

Eventually my new Visa Debit card turned up, but not my wifes. I have now been on hold for 20 minutes awaiting the third customer service person to deal with my enquiry - all I want to know is that they actually set this up as a joint account at that my wife will get her card.

I've already posted one complaint over my first impressions with the bank, I feel another one coming on. At present I am sorely tempted to tell them to stick it all up their arse and go to a bank that actually has custmer service.

That's funny Mike, cause I've had nothing but good experiences with the ANZ since getting a FF VISA with them about 2 years ago, and have seriously considered switching all my banking to them.

No

our directors here recently cancelled all their personal stuff with the ANZ (cards, loans, mortgages, leases)
and moved to the NAB

coz they have been fcuked around with incorrect payments being made, points on cards being lost
..the list goes on

one is being chased by the ANZ for $1.80 outstanding on a c/card which relates to interest on interest
on last months interest on purchases on the card

I find any contact with 'Customer Service' of any big companies appaling. Except AAMI where I get human contact on first ring.

Online things are the way to go.

I'm with ANZ. Only because I ran out of options. Can I say something good about them? Yes, they haven't shafted me yet. Customer service? Hah! Good job I don't need anything more than access to the ATM. ;)

Last time I went to the branch in the city - which I hadn't done for a couple of years - I walked in, stood in the queue like always, and when I got to the counter this haughty cow says, "Have you got a number?"
Well excuse effing me  Is that what that disjointed voiceover thingy was all about? Like - you walk in, and by some process of osmosis you just 'know' that they have a ticket system and that the dispenser is hiding over in the corner. Anyway, she says, "I'll let you through this time... " like she's doing me a favour.
I only wanted to deposit three grand FFS.

We ditched them here at work a few years back because we found them too inflexible and went to St George who we find quite good (being their largest customer helps). Having said that my kids bank with St George and they are not great personally

I'm with Westpac who I've always found really good but I guess it gets down to your own experience

I've got no personal experience with them but aren't Bendigo Bank supposed to be shit hot

i bank with st george, been of for me, except when i applied for a bike loan there.

i had the bike a week through another source b4 they rang me back to come and sign the papers at 5% more than where i got it from

My work uses ANZ they suck ass.
we do the "fast deposit" thingy, which is fast. but the rip tha bag in half, the cheques go one way (with the deposit slip) and the cash goes another.

somehow the cash and deposit slip arrive, but the cheques dont, they get lost constantly about 3 times a month :?

I used to work for the ANZ Bank, and I can understand your frustrations too.

iamwithstupid.gif Although I will say that while I worked there it opened my eyes to many things, and I still think that you'll find ANZ to be better than most others, particularly of the "big 4". But everyone you talk to will always have their own experiences, good & bad, with their bank. I certainly found them good enough to stay with even after leaving employment with them. I have banked with 6 different banks in Australia and the only other one I would consider is St George.

Never was a fan of the ANZ Visa Debit system though, St Georges & Bank of Melbourne were far better.

We were with ANZ and left them to go to Bendigo Bank which as said before is supposed to be really good only to go back to ANZ. Bendigo bank were not as good as it is said they are in our experience. I had to call NAB today with a general enquiry and got told that the waiting period would be minimum of 15 minutes. I don't think it matters where you go you are always going to have problems with the customer service (as others have always said).

iamwithstupid.gif as posted earlier by me, no such thing as bank and customer service, they are mutually exclusive.

I Can't comment on ANZ as i've never used them but i will say that aside from the penalties on late payments and so on, St George is they've always been pretty good to deal with. I've had them as my bank for a while now and the only reason i'm on the lookout for a personal loan with a credit union is for a lower rate on a consolidation (speaking of which i need to pull my finger out and actually DO it this week).
