That would be a tough call Mick. My grandparents on both sides reached their 60th Wedding Anniversary, which is think is quite special.

As for names; my dads side were Nan & Granddad, and mums side Gran & Granddad - fairly boring really. My kids call my mun Granny and my mother-in-law Nanny. It's Granddad on both sides too.

Mum's side was always Grandpa and Grandma. Dad's side is Maltese, so its Nanu and Nunna (pronounced Na-nu and Nun-na)

I recently put up this thread about what you all call your grandparents! I mentioned that being home for christmas had stirred up memories of my grandad. But that wasn't entirely true............ I really put it up, to see if there were any names which people called their grandparents, which i liked. Reason being.........My oldest daughter has made me a Grandfather!!!!! :D :D   :D :D   :D :D Mixed emotions!!!! Proud, most definately, wished she had waited a bit longer (she was 21 in Aug) most definately, Happy, of course, feeling old, it goes without saying!!

Alexander William is his name and he is a healthy, happy and adorable little baby! :D I spent Christmas and Boxing day with them! :D

By the way, none of the names really appealed to me so far, so keep posting!!!! :D

Haven't read the whole thread so don't know if its been posted but.
Try the Dutch version of;
Oma - Grandmother
Opa- Grandfather

Given the above, I now understand the purchase of a staid old BMW.

Edit: got the update as I clicked submit and Nick has beaten me.
As a side note to Nicks comments - friends of ours are expecting their first. He is Greek and she is Dutch. And so the child has now become known as " Clogsopoulos ". For the childs sake I hope that doesn't stick beyond the pregnancy! :D
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

Does this mean next time you 'do' the Great Ocean Road it'll be in a campervan that you modded in the back yard, and the BMW was really the first steps towards a Goldwing and Ulasseys membership?

Seriously, congrats mate. And it really doesn't matter what they call you, as long as they call you.

my grandparens - always just grandfather, and nanna

my great grandma was called "Dordal" coz one of the kids couldn't say Doris, and it stuck... we even named the boat Dordal....
my mrs' grandad was called pocky.

my kids call nanna's husband (my step-dad)"Cha" - instead of charles
