Z1000 gearing

Postby Ticketyman » Sat May 05, 2007 8:03 pm

To all the Z1000 owners out there, what gearing have you played with and how'd you do it?

The standard is obviously 42/16. Today I tried to get a 44 rear but they only go to 43 which won't make bugger all difference, so then I inquired about a 15 for the front but have been told they're not a genuine part and don't come with the rubber dampner like the 16. In turn they my need a spacer made up.
What's the go?
Have I just been talking to Wally's or what.

i put new sprockets on, but kept stock gearing, it goes fast enough and wheelies easy enough..

I bought a Renthal 15 tooth front.
Makes a noticeable difference but not by a crazy amount.
Mine doesn't have the rubber damper and I have been told it makes no difference.
It now lifts the front in 2nd under power!
Just buy it, you won't regret it.

No I didn't. It's a direct replacement.

Yeah i went a minus one on the front. I really like it. It feels more responsive and doesnt change your revs too much on the highway.

G'day, Im new here, this is my first post, so please forgive me if I aint doin it right.
I Have an 03 Z1000. I just recently changed to 15/44 Vortex sprockets....WOW its awsome!!!

I have a brand new 44 Vortex rear that I would be willing to part with for the right price. I got it sent from the USA but it wasnt the one I wanted, it is clear anodised aluminium, I wanted black.
