zx9 muffler recomendations

would love to hear of any recomendations for a slip on
pros & cons etc etc

i suppose im probably looking at the usaul suspects
yoshi- staintune arrow muzzy micron

i from what i know i dont need anything else ie power commander ???

currently my bike is stock as rock

but any info appreaciated

If you want quiet, then stick with the stocker. The standard pipe is also really light. Some of the aftermarket mufflers are actually heavier. So take this into consideration when looking.

I am currently looking at puting one on my 9 also. Not for noise, not for any power or torque increase, just for a little more ground clearance. My current fav is the Muzzy! I am thinking of buying one like they make for the ten with a low side exit, and having the mid section custom made to suit!

Check out the JC Motors Motorcycle Exhausts site on e-bay (US). These guys have their shit together, with over 5 and half thousand exhaust systems in stock at any one time.

The shelf price on a Yoshi RS3 bolt-on for my ZX12R was over $800 in the local dealer. I scored one from JC, for only $460 delivered from the US in 4 days !!!! That is *total* cost in Aussie dollars, including shipping.

They have *shitloads* of aftermarket slip-ons and bolt-ons for the ZX9, you name it, Two Brothers, Yoshi, Muzzy, Hindle, D & D, etc etc.

If you keep it to *just* a muffler only, then a PCIII is not a 'must', if you do a full system and some better filters, then you should consider a PCIII, especially with a Muzzy........

BTW, the Yoshi RS3 for the 12 weighed more than the stock Ti muffler...noticeably more......

Gos, the PCIII won't work on a ZX9 !!! For some reason it just doesn't have any effect on the Cv carbs?????

my brother has bought 2 from this guy for his 01 zx9
(wrecked the first one in a little crash)

currently he has a carbon TRS on it and it looks awesome and sounds REALLY awesome.
He reckons it has improved performance a little as well (although there is no proof of how much if any just that it 'feels' better

The TRS is definately louder than the rs3 he had last time.

I am probably going to buy an RS5 of this bloke in a month or two for my bike.

Like Gos says they are much cheaper than here and super fast on delivery.

just the normal street system

they are not cheap but they work. also you can fit it yourself, no need to ferk around with carbie kits etc as all develpoment work is done with std airbox and carb settings - you save big $$ in that alone.

well easter bunny arrived early

got a call from the shop and picked up the the pipe tonight

so ill be doing some tinkerin over the weekend

it seems pretty straightforward

is there any thing i need to know prior to starting this job
im thinking its probably a 2 or 3 can job am i close
apart from an ear to ear smile once fitted ???

so looks like a weekend devoted to the bike and a test ride somewhere
although the rozzas will be out in force

i was after a quiet pipe and i did make my decision pretty quickly
due to circumstances i will elaborate

after an off and an insurance job
my pipe was a sticking point ie they wanted big bucks to to replace and
my bike woulda been writen off
so i said i would live with the exhaust having a scrape on it
anyways i said give me the money for the repair of the pipe and i would
put it toward a new can
long story long
i rang insurance and they said lucky day for you mate

we will provide you a new can
so here i am celebrating with my new revoultion gp can
am i wrapped ive never had a win in these scenarios before
but good shit happens every now and then
