crash protectors/ frame sliders/ crash knobs etc

Postby Wardy » Tue Jan 23, 2007 5:53 pm

Just after some opinions on what is the best for crash protectors for a 00/01 zx9.

I had R&G racing ones on in my spill at OP on the weekend and they did the job but now their farked (rh snapped clean off, lh bent at 45 degrees and worn down). So I need replacement ones. These ones are £80.85 excl. VAT etc.

cheers

I've got the R&G ones, and though I haven't tested them, the fact that they bent and broke in an off is a good thing as far as I'm concerned - they're designed to give out before damaging the frame.

I think £80.85 is pretty reasonable considering the replacement cost of the fairings they saved.

Yeah agreed, the bolts are actually designed to snap before bending the frame/engine mounts etc.

Go R&G they are the best!

My race bike is now just one big crash protector with a wheel at each end.
Motorcycle's are inherently unstable...

I am curious too, are these things really any good.

I have thought about getting them for the ZRX on and off but can't come to a conclusion in mind about their value in a crash.

Seem to be bloody expensive for skate board wheels too.
Just one more law and everyone will be safe.

Mate you could turn some up just as easy out in the shed over a couple of well rolled spliffs!!! They are only made of hard urethane of some description. Can't be too hard! And Keables will have some bolts

dont get the mini crash knobs! I took the tight arse way and got a pair of them and I come off the bike a month or so ago and it snaped off and put a huge farking hole in my fairing. R&G sounds the way to go.

reckon i could have come up with something VERY similar using skateboard wheels.
i've done this a thousand times and no-ones ever been hurt. much.

Get 'em direct from the manufacturer at http://www.rg-racing.com/. It's quicker and cheaper than buying through the Australian distributor (and you're less likely to have to send them back, wait another 6 weeks for the replacements ... grrrr.....)

My wife has an 06 636 and bought crash knobs, they had all the brackets etc and seem to be pretty good.
