Hey jonno before you attack it with a screw driver flip it over and look for a reset button/little hole with reset written beside it i know my laptop has one for resetting the bios.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

First of all, I've never used the software described. I'm gonna post anyway. :P

I find it VERY unlikely that the BIOS has been altered, for a couple of reasons.

1. They'd have a hard time selling something that would void OEM warranties, and there's nothing on the website that suggests it modifies the BIOS (which DEFINITELY would void warranties).

2. According to the website, the software encrypts data. It's not a hardware solution.

It's far more likely that it's simply a boot loader with an encryption layer. In which case, format the thing and be done with it. Boot from the good ol' XP CD and repartition. If it's BIOS based, I'm guessing you'll get the login screen instead of the "Press any key to boot from CD ..." message.

Last thing, I could boot from my ghosting cd (drive image7) and do the same thing with an external drive, the software allows for network and loacal externals.???

the software doesn't but the BIOS does, it'll let you to boot from any drive you want as set in the BIOS the software is pretty much the very first thing the computer loads when the BIOS is loaded, so u can always select your boot device

HTH :D

Ok sorted thankyou all. 8)

Went into Bios setup and made sure/removed any supervisor password, seemed there was one  Maybe the software did it or what i do not know, set boot to cd drive, detected boot cd (DI7 disc), found the D: partition on the Hdd with the ghost image and now have a fully restored o/s drive from the 19.12.07. Gotta love reloading windows and all programs in 15 minutes :D

Yay 8)

Actually DI7 does boot to networks even to a raid and sata connection, B/S I hear you say, you’re right in that because in it's original package it can access local IDE drives, cd drives, and networks only. Since I had a raid setup on my desktop I was a little annoyed of the lack of such feature.
You see I modified the files in the DI7 folders with booting instructions before burning the DI7 Cd to detect raid and sata

Been a bit lazy but I want to add instructions for firewire and Usb as well. Not so easy, thats about my limit of nerdness

Now to install more sillery software
