kawasaki Green spray paint???

Postby MrStompy » Mon Dec 04, 2006 9:49 am

how can i get a couple of tins of spray paint in kawasaki green?
i want to spray my track fairings before the track day on the 17th.
im not doing an awesome job or anything im just trying to make it look ok from a distance.

so to get the paint do i just call a paint store and give them a paint code or something?
Can i get it from any auto store like a supercheap auto or do i need to go to a specialist paint supplier?

im guessing the paint code will be on the compliance plate am i right?

sorry for all the questions. but you guys have all the best answers :)

The Motorcycle accesory supermarket at Liverpool had the cans of Kwaka green in the shelf last time i was there. Give them a call, as for price i don't know.

Kawasaki has about 30 different variations of Kawasaki Green. They are all slightly different. The Original Green on my 1995 ZX6R is totally different to the Green that was on my 2005 636!!! The tins are really just a green. Not specifically "KAWASAKI" green. But they are close enough for your intended purpose.

Just some hints. Prepare the fairings really well, and sand back the undercoat two or three times before applying the green. If you rub back the undercoat a couple of times this way, then do the same once with the green coat, the finish will be awesome. I did it on some race fairings a while back, and you really had to look very closely to tell that it wasn't a spray booth job! Alternatively just slap it on, as you are likely to bin it soon anyhow!!!!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

ha ha. yeah i kind of think that as well. Im tempted to do a decent job on them but if i start running out of time (or if i loose interest) before the day i will just whack it on and hope it turns out ok.

Some Autobarns still mix up paint and put them into pressure pack cans...

You'd have to match it by eye though. :?

If you can find a paint code then just find an auto bahn that does the mixing and they should be able to match it off that

yeah ive been thinking of heaps of dumb stuff to paint on it.
i was very tempted to do cammo and use kawa green as the green in the cammo.

it all sounds too hard though. think i will just throw some green on it and be done with it.

turtles would be good though cause they will represent my lap times no doubt

The origional kawasaki green was 4 parts yellow to 1 part blue or something along those lines........ (I remember reading in an article about how kawasaki came to start using green).
The world is round. It has no point.
