Funny you should say that... everywhere I go they rave about the CBR Blackbird...Is that the one you're refering to? Road registerable race bike?
I'm told they'll eat the GSX1300 Hyabusa for breakfast?

I'm from Melbourne, I did live in Warwick for a little while, not too far from Toowoomba. I'm suprised how much toowoomba has changed, had a little look there earlier this year.
The VTR I rode was a 2000 model with Yoshi pipe (i think) on it. Very rough riding, then again it was the first time I sat on a V-twin. Does good wheelies though, I guess I'm a bit too used to the 12 which is close to double the power.

Yeah i do know what you mean. The missus VTR has Micron pipes, K&N filter, fancy Uridium? plugs and leads, Stage 2 Kit thru it, different gearing, and this thing literally rips ya arms off. My mate has a ZXR12 and we were heading down the Warrego towards Brissy and although the 12 has far superior legs up top, it had a shitload of trouble keeping up with the VTR from around the 60k to 240k.....

Mind you, once it hit its straps it was see ya later VTR.... :D

I'm a bit partial to the R1...Whats your opinion?

The VTR I rode had the pipes & K&Ns, but appart from that it was pretty stock. My ZX12R has scorpion pipe, K&Ns, Powercommander and a few other little mods to keep it moving. I have stock gearing as I do a bit of Highway riding and standard gearing is best for fuel consumption.
Sounds like your missus VTR has had a bit of work done to it, I hear cleaning up the ports in the heads of those things makes a major of difference.
The R1? I was close to buying one but then I stumbled across the 12. I think they're a great bike, wouldn't mind trying one out, but I think the riding position is a bit too extreme for me. One of my mates has one and it kills his friends Blackbird, till about 180km/h when the bird catches up and steadily pulls away. I also took a new Fireblade for a spin on the weekend(completely stock) and that thing was amazing! Eventhough the exhaust was stock it had a wicked bark once you hit about 8grand on the tacho. Brakes were fantastic and power was suprising to say the least. Only thing I don't like is the riding position, but it is a supersport

 your mate needs to get his 12 out of 1st gear  (no offence meant mate, but I really struggle with the concept that a 12 had trouble keeping up with a 1 litre V twin...  unless it was a full-tilt SP2 or something, then *maybe* on a good day.....)

  I don't wanna seem rude or anything on an Intro thread  , but having now owned and thrashed my 12 for nearly 18 months, there is *No Way On God's Green Earth* that a 12 would or should struggle to hang onto a VTR !!!

Even my ZZR1200 shits on em Gos. I do like the storm, and have considered them occasionally, but limited fuel range and power puts me off them. AFAIK Honda claims around 110-115Hp for them. ZZR has claimed power of 160Hp. (at the crank) :D
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

I tested a F'storm 2 years ago, just for the hell of it. Nice handling, nice grunt out of corners, but top-end was no better than my old Z, and it just had that bland Honda feel about it :? - I guess it would be a tad better with pipes, PCIII etc...
