Found this on ridersforums, this is a lot cheaper than a Scottoiler, it looks like it is worth a try, what do you guys and gals think?

EDIT: actually scratch that, I don't like the idea of a product that recommends dripping engine oil all over my rear tyre LOL think I'll stick with spray on lube LOL

Ive heard of them before and they apparently do work, you just have to squeeze it every time you start.

Looks like a great idea petro, i know from doing the brisbane courier loop that a chain will wear out pretty quick and even with my best efforts lube might find its way onto the chain 2 or maybe 3 times a week and it often looks pretty dry.

Was thinking about a scottoiler or something when i go for a new chain and sprockets in the not to distant future but wondered if you have to remove them for trackdays and how hard it is to do so.

The only thing i dont like the look of with these is the way they are attached they could go diving into the rear sprocket or something.

Theres also the issue of if they are going to lubricate the rear third of the bike including the shkie ducktail and the back of the rider but i supose thats what degreaser is used for. :shock:

cheaper, but with a scottoiler you don't have to do anything but ride the bike, occasionaly check to see if the setting is right, and check the bottle (which can last up to a year)

I don't see why you'd have to take it off (scottoiler), its certainly not in the way.

Youd think they could mount them a bit cleaner.
Maybe they have to have a downward slant on the feed line?
Just looks bodgie.
You pick that nail in the tyre up oiling the chain too.

Personally I think these things are a bit of a waste.

Whats the problem with spraying a bit of chain oil out of a can once every week or so? If you do it properly you don't get crap flinging all over the back of your bike and you actually get to inspect the back of your bike.

yep, im with u mate.... old fashioned i guess...

i was actually expecting the link or a pic to be sum scantily clad lady bending over oiling a chain with a can of spray...now THAT would be worth getting...

for me it's a big thing, i find moving the bike around to oil the chain hard work, and i can't get the bike on the stand by myself.
I know my chain is being looked after and I don't risk dropping it trying to put it on the stand. I look at the back of my bike all the time.. I don't need to oil the chain to do it

yep if you ride the bike every day its worth having a oiler but looking at someone elses bike today his oiler was lubricating the back third of the bike on the lowest setting for a scott oiler he also said his first chain lasted 90000kms.

i'd hazard a guess and say it was set up wrong. Mine's been on the bike for about 4000km now, and the only time i get anything on the wheels is when i go for a proper day ride, and then it's bugger all, and its set on no. 3

What about a 'Rollastand', Tanya? You'd get one cheap through work. I paid $80 for mine and it's good with the Spada. Not supposed to use it with the engine running and in gear, but I do an it works well!

but with the scottoiler I don't need a stand at all, the one I have is getting quite dusty

I have the Loobman that I purchased part of bulk buy through Netnanny,I still have'nt put it on ,I have heard nothing but good things about it.

But like Glenn & others I am still spraying on chain lube/oil at end of each ride,maybe when this last can ends I will put it on.
