Tank cap key barrel removal!?

How the hell do i remove the key barrel out of the tank cap ?

i need to transfer one from one lock to another .. but i have no idea how u do it .

any help ?!

on the bikes I have done this to

the whole tank filler/flap assy comes off the top of the tank
and the lock part gets released/unscrewed from underneath



if thats too hard...you can always use a slide hammer :shock:

well i wish it was that easy but this seems a bit fucked :S i have taken every single bit out and still cant seem to get it to budge... i gave it a tap with a hammer but still didnt budge it .. i have no idea .. would a dealer know how to get this out ? who could i get to remove it .. this blows.

Take it to a locksmith it should only cost you a couple dollars to get it chaged over.

I'm obv missing something but why dont you jsut change the whole cap ?

cause then id need two keys for my bike :wink:

i want the old key barrel in the new cap so my key opens it .

well basically the original cap got rashed when i had a bit of a slide at QR lol .. .

so ive since purchased a mint one, just need to swap key barrels over :)
