2007 Z750 or Z1000

Postby Ratmick » Sun Oct 01, 2006 8:48 pm

Hi all,

Posted this on the Kawasaki Nakedbike Riders Forum in case anyone thinks they've seen it before...

I have the extreme urge to ride naked and what's more I have spousal semi-approval to purchase a Z750 or a Z1000 (if I can find the bigger bike at a good price)...unless someone can point me to a better machine for the money.

What I'd really like is some of the trick bits off a Z1000 on the Z750 and I was wondering if 2007 was going to be the another "Let's change the colour and leave the bike to age gracefully while people look elsewhere" Kawasaki 'upgrade', or a genuine attempt to keep up with market forces..

So, has anyone seen a non-photoshopped picture of either the 2007 Z1000 or Z750? If so, can you either post it, or the URL?

The way I see it I just want a new bike, and I don't really care about the colour. If the 2007 model is the same as the 2006 and the 2005 I may as well buy one of these for a lower price, especially if a dealer has one in stock they can't shift and are offering good deals. Ditto for a Z1000.

However, if this is the 2007 Z750: http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/images/Kawasaki/2007_Kawasaki_Z750_1rn.jpg ...where do I sign?

The hard part would be choosing a new 2006 Z1000/Z750 (or even a 2005 if there's any still left) and a 2007 Z750...but what a choice!

hiya,

Don't believe and 'mock-ups' on Raptors, they are they bikes they would like to see made vs the ones that are actually made

I haven't heard anything about the z750 for 07 yet but there are strong *rumors* that the Z1000 is going to be replaced with something based on the 1400. If that happens then the z750 would eventually be updated to follow the z1400's look.

So don't be surprised if the z750 or z1000 feature only color changes for 2007. Kawasaki are being a bit silly actually because the z750 is a great bike and could take the market by storm with a decent update.

Have a look at pics 38-59 on this site: http://imageevent.com/capete/bikephotos/2007dealershow/2207kawasaki

Real pics of a black 2007 Z1000 at a bike show. Exhausts are a bit of an acquired taste...

No pics of the Z750 alas.

Maybe the older bits from the pre-2007 Z1000 will flow down onto the Z750, but I wouldn't realistically expect the '07 Z750 to be a mini-Z1000.

Historically the Z750 seems to be have been aimed at the budget end of the naked market and making it Z1000's little brother, rather than a look-alike, will require a leap of faith by Kawasaki when they have never had the balls to do that sort of thing before :? .

Time will tell I suppose, and I'd be glad to proven wrong...

Unlikely. The current Z750 was released a year after the 1000. Expect it to carry over unchanged into next year.

Mick,

There was a thread on the new Z1000 a while back:
http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11496

As for the Z750, I believe next year is just a colour update. At the expo tent at the GP they had one in the worst shade of matte blue I have ever seen!!!

If you're after a 750, get this years model and see if you can pick it up cheap. With the money you save, get the forks modified so that they are adjustable and fit a decent can.

If you can afford a Zthou, get the 07.

It'll all come down to price in the end, and there are pros and cons to both bikes. I prefer the 4-1 single-sided exhaust of the Z750 to the '06 (or '07) Z1000's array of pipes. However, I would really like the polished rims and the USD forks though off the Z1000. And the radiator shroud finishes off the front-end nicely.

I like the look of the 2006 Z750 in either the orange or black or the '06 Z1000 in blue. If there's no update in the forks/rims/radiator shroud in the Z750 for '07 then there's no point buying one, may as well go the cheaper option (I just want a new bike).

So, it'll probably be a 06 Z750/Z1000, and the choice will come down to the best price for the most bike at the time Ros says go for it .

i've heard of some silly prices being mentioned for ride away deals on z1000's, wonder if its true :?

i'm still a big fan of both bikes, get either one and i'm sure you'll be happy

It's from a US site, so not sure if it will be of any help, but here you go:
