nicole's car got hit this morning ( i wasn't there ) and the guy refused to give his driver's license and nic only got his number plate.....what should we do next?

it's not like the damage is over $450, so going thru the insurance isn't the best idea....and the phone number given by the guy isn't getting thru either :?

any idea?

Go to the cops, file a report.

They'll do the rest (like get their details, contact them etc)

It's an offence to leave the scene of an accident without supplying identification to the other party i believe

Go to the cops, file a report.

but i rang the cops and they said they woudln't do all the work. all they'd do is just filing the report and that's it

Dont ring them, Go into the police station and talk to them.... Go in there and say that the person was being hostile (not violent) and refused to talk to you.... Refused to give you his license details....

If they say they wont ring him point out to them that YOU ringing them wont make any difference, that a crime has been commited and they are refusing to help you...

If they still refuse to help you, ask for their name and write it down... you will need it later...

Make sure you write it down in front of them...

Oh, and DO NOT be rude to them..... be very polite, but firm....

I've had the cops knock on my door because some knob made a complaint when he'd been the one driving like...well a knob. They said they'd give us both a warning  but the point is that they do sometimes follow through with complaints.
