Postby Spud » Sat Sep 02, 2006 7:47 am

hey guys,
riding home from work last nite on the busy as always M5 on my 95 zx6r, realised when i got home why i was getting beeped everywhere, my brake lights arent working properly.

they seem to stay on like i'm braking all the time, they dont go back to normal.
is there anything i should check before taking it to someone?? i've looked in the manual and cant really find anything atm, so i'm guessing its most prob a switch problem??

anyone got any ideas??

cheers people,
mike

Sticky rear brake switch. Look in your manual - Electrical System. Located above the footpeg bracket mount(rear brake pedal side).
Give it a spray with WD40/RP7 etc, that should free it up again. If it is shagged then your up for a new switch.

the rear brake light switch has a screw type adjuster on it and a spring. sometimes over time this can wind itself up and cause the brake lights to stay on permanently! Check it out (right near the foot brake pedal-black thing with a little hook and spring) and it may well be a simple fix. Otherwise it could be a faulty front switch (less common and then has to be replaced) HTH. :)
