Postby Colette » Fri Aug 11, 2006 11:06 am

For those in Melbourne or who know Melbourne well, what are your favourite restaurants/cafes in Lygon St?

Pretty much safe with any of them, I'm particularily fond of the 24 hour coles express next to the gelati shop.

As long as you like Italian there much for muchness Colette. Not a restaurant doer myself so would probably go for Hotel Milan, bike friendly owners for starters.

We have 2 favourites.

Poppy's Thai (Where I proposed)
Papa Gino's - good italian at fairly cheap prices. Love their Chicken Parmy.

When we go to Lygon for dinner it's usually one of these two depending on whether we are in the mood for Thai or Italian.

I had a really good sirloin at Papa Gino's a couple of years back...! I'd go with that :)

I've found a good trick to avoid getting hounded with menus etc while you're walking along checking them out. Walk along with a gelati. Works a treat!
