well can someone tell me how to change my pads and change the brake fluid. i kinda know how to flush the fluid and put the new pads in but my major concern is bleeding it. dunno what to do and im worried if i do it wrong, it may cost me my life.

does anyone wanna help me put them in??

i got the ebc fronts (both sides) for only 60 on ebay and the rear for 40 at C & G motorcycles in adelaide.

ok i just changed all the pads and flushed the brake fluid. was not as hard as i thought. the brakes i took the bike around the block and they dont seem to grip as well. i have to press harder to stop on the rear and fronts. how long does it take for this to go away. the brakes are not spongy, they leavers feel the same as the old pads in.

providing they were bled correctly and your seals aren't shot, give it about 20-30km of riding max and it should be right again. Also the first thing you should have done before getting on the bike is squeeze the levers to the bars a dozen times to ensure that the system is primed up and the pistons are fully extended & have taken the pads right up to the disc.

Well it does take a few km to bed in propperly, remember when you bought the pads, they were perfectly smooth, wheras the discs have waves and imperfections in them that it'll take time to wear the pad to bed into, that's the only other thing i can think of causing it to take some time for the pads to bed in.

If your really sure it isnt a problem with bedding the pads in then the first thing to check would be that all the pistons were able to move in/out freely, one could have gotten caught on crap on the brake walls, etc. (when i rebuilt my front & rears, i found that before i cleaned them out & replaced the seals. On every caliper, one piston was always a bit stiffer to respond than the other due to crap getting in between (this is unfortunately normal), it looked like the seals hadn't been replaced in over 40,000km at least.

You can check this by taking the caliper off one side, taking the brake pads out, putting a g clamp around one piston to stop it moving out, and hitting the brake lever, if after one or two presses of the brakes it doesn't move, put the g clamp on that and move on to the next piston, and clamp up the old piston. If it works fine, just use the g clamp to squeeze the piston in again to where it was beforehand.

if they aren't working that well, well time to buy a new brake seal kit from kawa and take to your calipers with a toothbrush & various nasty chemicals.

If they all work fine, then either you have inferior brake material, it is taking a hell of a long time to bed the pads in, if they are rather high performance pads, they take ages to heeat up to operating temps (a good example is racetrack brakes) or you have air in the lines.

Good luck

thanks mike-s, ive double checked the lines again if they had bubbles and they only had pin size bubbles but now they are all gone. made no difference really but i rode around today trying to wear them in. at first i was only breaking with my rear when approaching the lights. had to push hard but the brakes now are getting better. the fronts i did the same thing and i really crunched them. the first time not too bad but after a few times, the rear came up  .
anyways im still wearing them in and hopefully they will be done by the next ride.

thanks again ppl

well pin sized bubbles are enough to make a difference when your braking hard. Glad to see there's some improvement.

just wanted to update.

the fronts are worn in and they are freaken awesome.
the rear.......well i still having trouble with it. still have to be pressing hard to get grip and i bleed them again but the best i can do is the lil pin bubbles. its not spongy and it is stiff as before but why do i still have to press down really hard to lock up the rear? going 60 and just using rear, feels like its only doing a tiny bit. i cant get better than that. must be bubbles somewhere stuck in there.

the rear could just have a smaller master piston and a stiffer spring.

remember that the rear brake is a lot weaker than the front, the rear is a lot more liable to lock up.

this is my final post for this thread and i just wanted to say that it took 2 days to wear in the fronts and around 3-4 days for rear. they have so much more grip and they give alot of feed back. imho 10/10 for ebc.
they might cost abit more than the other brands but you sure can tell the difference.
