What is it about them that polarises our opinions?
We all will have met one socially.
We all have seen them on telly, portrayed as a “revenue raiser”
Most of us have probably dealt with them in some manner.
They book us for speeding.
They are to busy to take our phone calls.
They lie.
They don’t touch the criminals.
They receive of our contempt.

They deal with the paedophiles.
They attend to the traffic accidents.
They intervene in domestic violence situations.
They do all the shit jobs.
They deserve our respect.

They get paid less than a builders labourer.
Some rock ape (me) earns heaps more money than a QLD. Detective I know.
Yet there is no way would I do his job, I have been told some of the horror stories. Some of the human garbage that he has had to deal with literally turns my stomach.
Why is it we always blame the pig?

Its simple don’t break the law unless you will take responsibility for your actions.

If you don’t want to be booked – don’t speed.

The average copper must be as frustrated as we are at the stupidity of our legal system,
That lets child molesters walk our streets while people are sent to jail for traffic offences.
There have been people convicted of murder in W.A. sentenced to 7 years in prison.
I spent longer than that in boarding school.

Where is the justice?

It is not the fault of the police; they have been hamstrung by the civil-libertarians, who protect the rights of our criminals.

Just stop and think about it. When you get robbed who are you going to ring?
Who do you expect to help catch the bad guys?

We may not like them and they may be restricted in what they can do , but would you be any better ,would you really want to do their job ?

Bullshit laws they CAN use discretion on if they want and are not MADE by the cops.
AND it CAN be your attitude that determines that, but sometimes see above.
BUT they CAN either choose to enforce them, and then HARSHLY, or not.

I know the Local Video Ezy is owned by a Police officer, I know he has a Nice House as we supplied the floorcoverings...
I also know he's had some nasty injuries done to him by drunks...

MANY of Victoria's frontline police are being driven toward mental and
emotional breakdown by work stresses.

Research found the stresses were inflamed by resource shortages, but a
parallel study found support from colleagues and bosses had much greater
impact.

Preliminary findings of a three-year study into the relationship between
resources and health showed police exhibited higher levels of psychological
distress and emotional exhaustion than most other occupations.

High levels of cynicism and low levels of job satisfaction were also found in a
pilot survey of 710 of the state's frontline police.

The research is being undertaken by the University of South Australia's Work
and Stress Research Group for the Police Association with an Australian Research
Council grant.

"Significant relationships were found between task demands, resources and
frontline police officer wellbeing," the report says.

Stress levels were higher and morale lower at larger 24-hour police stations,
where staffing problems were often more critical.

One-third of sergeants and a quarter of senior sergeants reported levels of
stress high enough to warrant help from a mental health professional --
the Australian norm is 11 per cent.

Sergeants and senior sergeants said they did not have enough resources to
adequately meet any of their tasks.

Every police officer that has ever booked me for speeding has been doing his/her job, I was speeding it was a fair call. No copper has ever booked me doing 4km over the limit,

Coppers ... we need em, just look at the alternative ..

i have 3 friends who are coppers, and love their job, i want to be one too, have wanted to be since i was like 17, but then my driving record kinda hindered my chances. then financial issues got int he way, having to go without pay for like 30 something weeks while training is a tough call when you got things to pay.

i have respect for coppers, except the ones on power trips, and the ones cruisin the streets witht heir foggies on in daytime and their arm out the window. then booking people for beeping their horns and flashing their headlights at their friends
