Tax

Postby SenNey » Wed Jul 19, 2006 4:36 pm

Ok who does there tax early?
Who uses eTax?
Who just waits till the cut off date?

I can't do mine till hubby has his group certificate.
DRIVES ME NUTS
His employer takes there sweet time every year.

I just like to do it to make sure it's done and out of the way.

SO i called them up, and pretended to be someone from the ATO

The payroll lady said oh im so sorry i will hand them out today.
Seems they have been sitting on her desk for a week!!, and as she is new (4 months) doesn't know all the workers names.
So didn't want to give them to the wrong person. :?

Any way he now has it.

ETAX is fabulous!! been using it for a few years!! So much quicker then the tax man and paper trail.

Ok vent over.

Etax is good and is going to get better. It will soon pull information from share registry's and banks so basically the entire form will be prefilled. All you'll really have to do is put in you deductions etc.

But while I can get my reasonably complicated tax done by someone at Mrs Felix's work...

I like that idea!!
I also like i can roll over last years, into this year so half is pre-filled aswell.

Oh and the best bit, you can see what your estimated refund will be before you submit it.
If you want to add a few "extra" deductions you can

r.

Employers have 14 days after the year end/end of employment
(if during the year) to supply the employee with Payment
Summaries (Group Certs) ...according to the Tax Office
so good for you
sticking it up his employer

and eTax...very good if you have simple stuff to do with tax
(and cheap..as in free :) )
I use a tax accountant coz its all too bloody difficult
with franking credits and rents and capital allowances
and interest and dividends ..all that sorta stuff

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

I love eTax, but ran into a bit of a problem this year. Did my tax after getting group certificates from 2 employers - then after it was lodged, got a group certificate for a company I worked for in 2004-2005.

They didn't pay me anything this financial year, and I didn't work for them at all. They apparently stuffed up last year's group certificate and now are trying to put the extra into this financial year... So now I need to send a letter to the tax office detailing the problem because my ex-company is incompetent...

After wasting money paying an accountant to do my tax, I now use eTax. Have used it the last couple of years and not had any problems yet.

Issued GC's yesterday... My missus sent off last night via on line service
if last year was any indication should have $$$ back in a week & a bit straight into our account...beauty..... rego due next month

Suggested method if you dont have shares or fiddly bits to input

A few years back the wrong info was put in & created some hassle ... had to wait longer.... ya cant make changes after pressing that send button
