Have you tried giving the guys at AMCN a call? They'd have people who know your rights, could probably give figures on how fast your bike can go and will put some weight against a Jail term for sure. Worth a shot?

See a good solicitor, the ones in the mags like CycleTorque are usually riders too, and definately get your bike dyno'ed.
Precedent for this sort of thing was set a couple of years ago by a guy who got pinged supposedly doing 160k/h in a stock standard datsun 180B. :?
It was proved on appeal that the car was incapable of doing that speed and the case was dismissed.

Hard luck, seems a really severe penalty to me. What about the guy who did 200k's + down the freeway to Goulburn, he managed to prove the speed was not excessive for the conditions and the vehicle was not out of control? The SOB got off without even a warning...

Even if you can prove your bike's top speed is say 160 how is that going to make any real difference when you are in an 80k zone?
All of us have done bad stuff & been lucky to get away with it so dont let it totally mess up your self esteem.
Sell the bike cos 2 years is ages. Ride your pushy & enjoy being fit.
You could save like mad & buy yourself a great bike as a reward when you get your licence back.
Good luck buddy.

Phaaark  . Who the hell gets a jail sentence for speeding no matter how fast. I have no idea what your going through here mate but whatever help you need just yell.

Like Mick C said Mark Stenberg advertises in most mags. I've met the bloke at ride days and he's pretty good as far as I know. Talk to him about the speed capabilities of the bike and what you can do to prove your point. A top gear run on a Dyno will probably be a good starting point though.

I truly can't fathom what sort of whacko judge threatens jail for speeding when all sorts of malicious dickheads get away with whatever they want.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Frankly, fuck that. Appeal it anyway.

Where can i get my bike dyno'd

Up your way, Central Coast Performance Centre would probably be the shop with the most cred, but almost every bikeshop has a dyno these days.

Dynos can be set up to output a graph of engine power or torque as a function of either engine revs or road sped. Do the dyno run in top, overlay the graphs of power = f(revs) and power = f(speed) and show that the GPX250 bangs off the limiter at 165kph in top.

I doubt there'd be a dyno operator under the sun who wouldn't be prepared to come into court and testify in explanation of the findings.

A bit more complicated, but try this. Do a trackday at Eastern Creek and get someone to video you approaching Turn 1, and use the time it takes you to go from one braking marker to another to show your maximum attainable speed at the end of a downhill 1km long straight you enter with a flying start is barely 145kph.

You could corroborate that by strapping a GPS to the bike and using the max-speed function.

Finally, you could take the bike to the drags, again video the event to show that you tried with a hard launch and kept the thing pinned throughout. The timing slips will show ET and terminal speed, which can

and what facts would it give me?

It will show that your bike is physically incapable of doing anything even remotely like the speeds the police claim you were doing when they pulled you over. Given that, what else are they bullshitting about?
