It's also importoant to note that increased muscle mass also increases your metabolic rate. So, once you've started to stack on the muscle, even when you are sitting still you'll be burning more calories than you did before.
I don't want to sound like I'm contradicting what you've just written, but many years of weight training (before I got old and lazy) taught me some valuable lessons.
Stereo, grab the weights and give them a moderate push. Just don't go busting your arse like the blokes who are trying to look like Arnie. If you do enough cardio work, you'll keep your muscle size down anyway.
And another thing.... drink plenty of water. Ensuring you have your 2 to 3 litres of water a day will help push out any excess water you might be carrying under your skin. Be warned tho, unless you are used to drinking that much, you'll be pissing every 10 minutes!
