....mmmmm shiney.....
CHOKE COUGH
Get that darn 'busa out of here !!!!!
The only place I am used to seeing them is the mirrors
...or parked in front of coffee shops with Ulyses stickers on

...thanks for reminding us what a REALLY ugly bike looks like but....

Mind you I think the 14 is just admission from K that they were never going to beat the bueaty of a black ZX12R with no stickers so they just gave up 8)
..... but in a count of branchs hit when it feel out of the ugly tree, the bus took a lot out, the 14 got the rest and the 12 floated to ground on a cloud of design brilliance.....

Maybe it will grow on me, maybe it looks better in the flesh... but at the moment it looks like a fat RF900...

The photo's are of the ZZR1400. The Aust model is the ZX14. I know they both have the same marketing code but the ZZR has a rear grab rail. I have asked at Kawasaki and at dealerships and they don't know what I am talking about.(surprise surprise). If you look at the new 2006 Australian Kawasaki brochure the small picture on the top right of the black ZX14 has a grab rail. This must have been sourced from another countries model. From what I can tell that is the only difference.
If there are more differences can some one please inform me.

Does anyone know if these big beasts have slipper clutches?

Clutches

Postby ShadowKeeper » Mon Jun 05, 2006 10:31 pm

No slipper clutch :? Doesn't really need one. IMHO these types of bikes were never designed to compete with the latest batch of crotch rockets so they don't need to be as race orrientated.

Doesnt need a slipper, oh really ???? As you said IMHO (and you HAVE a 14) .... and as you say it IS race oriented.
But, no offence meant in the least, once you have had it for a while and start pushing the sucker see if you STILL think that
I would think the first time you go down one gear too many and big sucker slides instead of just reving the motor you will have second thoughts... it only has to save you once to be worthwhile.
I STILL cover my clutch like a seizing 2 stroke on the 12 coming into corners on the track and apparently the 14 is bigger ( ) but seriously has a higher compression ratio (anyone?).
I did not get any "lock ups" on the 14 I rode, BUT I wasnt pushing it either.
Even on the road the 12 will decompression lock if you roll off the throttle too hard and the ars starts skipping (I am only a little guy too).
It is worse on track of course (yeah I know its not a track bike but it IS a bike)
A combo of high compression, big cc's, EFI and ham fisted riding (ME).
They might NOT need one if you never use them hard or are smooth (I try OK).
IT never seems to get out of control but sure gets the ars puckering.

IMHO ALL bikes should be coming out with slippers and in years to come we will wonder how we did with out it.

HOWEVER I DO like backing my ZX7R in....

Slipper clutches are for pussies! Nothing like whacking it into first at about 100 as you head into a hairpin.
