Nickname and how you came about it?

Postby mick_dundee » Tue Apr 25, 2006 8:01 pm

Subject is fairly self explanatory, as indeed are some ppl's nicks, eg GPX Lainie, Plasma Blue amongst others, having said that, some are clear as mud, so this is the thread to tell the world at large how you got your nickname.

Guess I might as well start, as most Vic ppl at least know, my forst name is Michael, prefer to be called Mick, my surname starts with D, ands in Dee, 2 letters in the middle not the same but at a pub I used to be a regular at in Geelong they called me Croc and it's kinda stuck since then.

Eight-odd years ago we used to keep domesticated hand-reared rats as pets. Despite the bad press they are great pets if they are bought from good breeders. Very intelligent, one of nature's great survivors.

I was a member of an Australian-based Yahoo rat forum, hence Ratmick . When I bought my GPX250R we also had a Yahoo forum and I couldn't be bothered inventing a new name.

The attached pic is back from 2000, my youngest Emma was four back then, and Lulu the beige-hooded girl on her shoulder was one of my favourites. Anyone who knows me (and most parents on this Forum would feel the same way) know that I wouldn't have done this if I thought there was even an extremely remote chance Lulu would bite. And kids have no fear or prejuidices.

When I first got into Web Forums I couldn't think of a nickname so I just used the closest thing to me................My dog! Strika is what we call him, but his full name is ----------- Strike-a-light-------- the dots representing the bits before and after that I can't remember. He has papers but I wouldn't even know where they were???

Hey ratmick, I went out with a girl who had rats as pets. I was a little put off at first too, until I got to know them, and you are right they are top pets. Mind if it wern't for the fact that she was just stunning, I may have not been prepared to put up with the rats.....

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Your experience was a karma-balancing exercise trying to negate the centuries of bad press rats have endured   . Obviously the rats have learnt it's easier to gain acceptance with the use of attractive human female bait rather than the Black Death.... I told you they were smart .

I got to meet an amazing cross-section of people over the years. Weirdest experience was Ros and I going to the movie 'Stuart Little' with a group of rat club members to one of the cinemas in Bourke Street with about half a dozen rats smuggled in various people's pockets. They didn't disgrace themselves, just sat there eating popcorn or sleeping 8).

WTF ??? this is just insane, one of my ex-girlies was a rat-freak, she had about 3 or 4 as pets.......they were all well-trained, but it still used to freak me out a bit.......and she was a hottie as well..........Team Crim used to go to college with her, and can vouch for the *hottie* bit......

We sure have a lot in common heh Marty ??

Back on topic, my *handle* is obviously from MadMax, if you have lived under a rock for the past year, I am rather a fan of the movie, and Jim Goose and his Z1000.......Gosling1 is his MFP call-sign.......I use the same handle on a number of forums.....
