One of the reasons you dont shave malamutes and huskies is that there is a 50% chance the hair WILL NOT grow back. Theres a malamute locally, it got shaved once, now it just looks like its got some sort of disease cos the fur didnt grow back properly.

Get a dog groomer to groom your dog on a regular basis, and make sure its blow dried. This shifts all the loose hair out (and on your lawn, neighbours car, etc.) Washing alone wont do it. Huskies have 2 major moults a year.

In summer get those kids clamshell pools(most garage sales) and put some water in each. My friend with 2 huskies has 2 pools, and the dogs head straight for them after their walks. If its super hot and they both gotta work she gets a bag of ice and puts that in there too.

Yep, my boy has his own pool, albeit a small one but he loves it on a hot day, up to his knees in cool water.
Then the dickhead decides to try and dig the bottom of the pool out and sprays water in all directions out o the pool
Theres not a lot ya can do when they moult, my usual pastime when settling down outside with a beer is to get the dog rake and to proceed to fill a carrier bag full of undercoat off the dog, then I have to stop because ya could just keep filling them.
When he comes in, we have a red rug on the tiled floor in the living room(the only rug in the house!) and within 15 mins its white over with fur.
Ya gotta love though

Unfortunately no, I dont have a pic. I'll have to see if I can sneak one. But just imagine a big malamute, with a normal furry head and feet, and on the rest of it there's this wispy grey undercoat in uneven patches and the rest of its bald, even its tail.

My friend rarely wears black, and doesnt have any rugs in the house. I groom them every 3 months or so and there is a good 4-6 inches of fine white dog hair on the floor of the trailer (and me!!)

They're great dogs but I'd never own one myself.

I had a husky, and they love to dig, never did what he was told and would pull your arms off when on a walk.

And Malt.. omg

He lives with a female husky now, and they both dig holes :D

Humping and biting is dominance behaviour, even with females. Get it desexed, that will help. And get tough on its sorry arse.

Mate it's too lat eby the sound of it Drop it at the pound & start saving for the next one. dogs are like computers you get back what you put in.
So this one thinks its DOS & it's gunna freeze n lock up & generally be a pain in the bum, till you get the shits & buy a new one & punch in linox.
Bit of tough love here mate. Maybe the next dog will benefit from it.

I have a staffie cross that doesnt even bark at visitors & wont leave the back yard when i leave the gate open & go work. He's as dumb as a post but he aint no drama's.
I taught Janelle's dog Shitzu/malteses cross not to go down stairs so she sits on the front verandah (i have no front fence you see) until she is taken down to do her thing.
As for the digging holes put the doigs own byproduct in the hole & fill it in & hit it with the hose when you caych it doping anything you dont want to become habit.
hth,
cheers Brett
