American Chopper

Postby goanna_38 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 1:46 am

Been watching American chopper and thought I'd try a quick poll. How many people here have to use a hammer to put their axles in? Every episode I watch involves some serious hammer work when it is time to put the wheels on. My axles glide in like butter and I'm starting to worry I mioght be doing something wrong. :D
If a man says something, and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?

Nah mate youl be right just have to work out how to integrate the front gate at your place into the forks then dip the whole lot into a vat of chrome.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

But the front gate at my place is 8 feet high and weighs 2 tonnes. Won't it be a bit small?

actually since i got rid of fox im kinda missing it, but realising theres sum half decent shows on free tv if u actually get into em...

but back on to american chopper...i was watching the great biker build off, and all these guys buy standard tanks/guards etc & bolt em together, calling it a custom bike..they dont make ANYTHING....whereas OCC (american chopper) MAKE custom tanks, guards etc..the motor etc is just put together, but they also often design air filter etc..which none of the other clowns do..really OCC are custom bike builders...the rest are just "bike assemblers"

I made thew mistake of downloading a episode of that show once and it appeared to be a couple of guys that looked a lot like hulk hogan welding things that looked like spanners to the side of a cruiser type thing then dropping the whole lot in chrome and painting skulls on it.

A bit like back yard blitz with hulk hogan lookalikes and choppers.

Ohh and then charge the customer $100000 bucks for the thing

I am sure someone somewhere likes it.

Did you see the great biker build off with the aussie bloke?
He made everything by hand out of alluminium. He even made
custom rollers to make guards.

Yeah I saw that one Ment. The pommy and american just pulled everything of the shelf and put it together. Where as the Aussie bulit everything from scratch by hand, including the frame.
The Aussie guy called them bike assemblers, not builders..

I saw one of the latest creations from scottys choppers in a recent heavy duty mag (might have been some other cruiser mag).

Any way the thing looks f**king awesome. its a work of art rather than a motorbike.

I agree with Neka - those dudes from American Chopper are pretty funny.

If i had the cash i wouldnt mind a shit hot custom cruiser in the garage - next to my custom streetfighter, ZX10, and track bike of course
