I'm a C.A.D. designer for a housing company, so, as my friends keep telling me I get to draw pretty pics of houses all day and surf the net. :D

For those people that have no clue what this company is i'll give you a bit of a run down. The company I work for was first known as Borg-Warner. NOW if you don't know who that is then just stop reading and be happy I told you what I do for a living. (JK).

My kind of "Brother" in law so to speak is one of the head IT guys at Borg's.. My old man (step father) used to work for them a few decades ago and got him his job there many moons ago.. Brian's his name. and he rides a hoon... hon... hond... VFR i think it is..

sorry couldn't say it.

Another nerd here. By trade, a networker (CCNA, CCNP (nearly), MCSE, wireless specialisation, heading towards security).

Unfortunately, most of my work seems to be dealing with morons who have no idea, and turning power points back on is a regular occurence.

I did spend 18 months as a brickies labourer, 12 months of that was actually on the tools, as we got a fitter labourer. I am thinking of going back, but my back is telling me to think twice about it.

i get paid an "average" wage (yea very bloody average if u ask me) to sit around in an air conditioned showroom, boss ppl around, go for a walk to the shops, bank, make phone calls to my freinds/family etc ...and occasionally have to speak to customers....

oh they love it if i actually sell things too!!

my boss brings me coffee (CIBO) most days, and Haighs chocolates ($9 per 100g) ...and i get cash bonuses, and most O/T is paid in folding stuff... plus we get killer xmas bonus ($700 last yr)...

and the oldest staff member is 28 (other than the owners) ..with a team of guys & girls from 19-28 we have a bloody ball...oh and theres plenty of hot chicks in the Unley area to perve on...!!

I was wondering what had happened to them. Once upon a time in the good old days of tariffs and locally manufactured parts-bin-engineered rear wheel drive cars, Borg Warner made the auto and manual transmissions for Ford, Nissan, Mistubishi, Chrysler, etc etc. Their first 5 speed manual was plonked in the Sigma, the 2.8 litre Commodore, the 3.3 litre Falcon, the Bluebird, etc.

Who other than Ford are they still making trannies for these days? Or have they moved into other areas again?

I'm the one that actually runs the company...I'm in admin...its not like the managers and team leaders actually know whats going on is it? :)

I'm not sure who Borg-Warner is still making gear for. The last I heard they got rid of all their overseas companies and pretty much disappeared. I think they are a british company. (I could be totally wrong on this, i'm not sure)

We only make trannies for Ford and Ssangyong, which are your Musso's and Rextons and the like.

We have been sold and are now known as Drivetrain Systems International (DSI). The sale went through at 5 this arvo.

Cheers
