...Windows Designer (the Microsoft kind, not Bay or French) for the National Bank (aka nab). Currently trying to replace the Bank's market data system...which is based on Sun Solaris, not Microsoft.

I'm actually a bit of a rarity, a jack-of-all-trades IT-wise, but as they had a space in the Windows team, and I don't really fit anywhere else, it'll do for the time being.

St Johns volunteer first aider on my weekends, as if they weren't busy enough already. 8)

Dad, husband (listener, cheerer-upper, insignificant other and rational voice of reason), responsible adult, big brother, devoted son, taxi driver and gopher.

Subordinate to everyone except two dogs, three chickens and a guinea pig. Mower of lawns, tower of trailers and cleaner of gutters. Nice guy and good friend. :P

....NOW do you see why I don't get out much on the bike???

I'm an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer......sounds good doesn't it.....I'm actually a glorified Fitter and Machinist. Well except I have done CAD design, CNC Lathe and Milling Machine Programming. Also have completed a Hydraulics Course at TAFE and am currently doing my Pneumatics module.

I work for ION Automotive Systems (Administrative Appointed)....yes we are in the shit but we should be sold to a new company by the end of this week called Drivetrain Systems International. For those people that have no clue what this company is i'll give you a bit of a run down. The company I work for was first known as Borg-Warner. NOW if you don't know who that is then just stop reading and be happy I told you what I do for a living. (JK).

Anyway in a nutshell we manufacture gearboxes for FORD and SSANGYONG. We currently only supply 4 speed gearboxes to these companies but ford are switching over to a ZF (German Company) 6 speed gearbox...hence the reason we are in a little bit of shit (appart from stupid managment which had the main part to play in the near shutdown of the place). We have already got a 6 speed made and are currently in the testing phase ( I actually got to drive it down to Melbourne late last year and it didn't go too bad. I had a bit of trouble getting used to the car as it was a left hand drive) but know we need a customer before our current contracts run out in 2008. This doesn't really worry me as I am in my 4th year and will finish at the start of Feb next year with my trade certificate.

OK, now i've told you all about me i'm going to go and change my life completely so you can't track me down...  .

Ok Ok i'll stop boring you peoples to death.

Cheers
Ben

As long as you're happy!

I work a job that doesn't require much intelligence and has no responsibility, but it pays for all the things I love and doesn't drive me insane.
I'd much rather my job than being stuck behind a computer all day, or having a boss breathe down my neck about deadlines.

Nothing at all . Its not that hard for a labourer to get around 80k on a big building site . Sometimes better paid than the site management .

I have worked with labourers who have had double degrees and one guy is now flying 707 air refueling tankers in the Airforce , and he still rekons he had more fun at work when labouring .

Im not smart enough to be a labourer

My old bike mechanic up and left his job at the local Kwakka deal to move up to the mines in the north of the state to be a labourer. Apparently he spends all day digging holes for 60+ grand a year.....

Agreed. I worked in the IT industry for 10 years before I finally had enough of it and jumped ship. Now I ride a bike all day, travel around the state, get to piss people off.... hahaha. And even though my parents are probably still dissapointed that I threw away my year 12 and pre-planned path to the defence force academy, I know they are just happy that I turned out reasonably well.

I love having a job that doesn't require me to think to much. I love not having that many responsibilities. I love being able to do my own thing each day. I love working outside. I love sitting around watching the world go by whilst getting paid to do it. And sometimes I even feel like I'm making a difference, although I seem to be able to fix that with my medication.

Well i'm a bum, sometime cleaner, sometime security guard at the minute. Was thinking about motorbike couriering but the fact that I only had 1 point spare on my license till recently has put me off that idea.

Might take it up again one day but would buy a bike specifically for the purpose if I did.

I love this phrase

I work to live, not live to work

Who cares wot you do, as long as there is money enough for bills and extra for fun.
This thread is good though cos now we know who to call if we need some help with something at mates rates. 8)
