ZX14 Quarter Mile Times

Postby aardvark » Sat Feb 18, 2006 3:13 am

Some bloke in the US has a ZX14. Apparently he's a quarter mile wizz.

Anyway, you can read all about it here:
http://www.psychobike.com/cgi-bin/ikonb ... st=0;r=1;&

Or, if you can't be bothered reading through all the pages, the important bits are below:

2006 Kawasaki ZX14
mods-------slammed
no air filter
THATS IT!!!!

Stock pipes
stock gearing
87 octane pump gas
stock tires
ABSOLUTELY NO TRICKS

60ft ............... 1.56
330ft ............. 4.04
660ft ..............6.08 @ 120.90
1000ft ............7.85

1320ft 9.36 @ 147.71

I think even more impressive than that is the results me and Coby got with a 6 inch over arm (64 inches).

MODS

64 inches
Pirelli
Air shifter
MR9
SLIP ON MUZZYS CANISTER
no Air filter
1 tooth smaller counter shaft(16)

1.36 1.37
3.66 3.68

7.28 7.32

8.73 @ 154.55

also noted in the following posts that

"the zx14 is going for $11,499 compared to $11,199 for the '06 zx10!"

y???

is this to hammer the market and to steel the busa market?

n e 1 know the price here?

Ahhhh - such incredible acceleration, and so cheap (at least in American prices anyway!) Just think of the American newbies with no riding experience who'll be buying one as their very first bike.

You know those guys on US bike forums:
guy 1: "Hi, I'm doing my first motorbike lesson tomorrow and next week I'm buying my first bike, should I get a ZX6R or a ZX10R?"
guy 2: "Get the 10 - you'll just get bored with the 6"
guy 3: "Why not get the ZX14R - only a few hundred extra bucks more than the 10?"
guy 1: "OK, sounds like a good deal, thanks for your help guys"
...etc.

Impressive, based on an online calculator (how acurate that is I dont know?) the almost stock 14 puts out 188rwhp, the modded 14 about 215rwhp. Still very acheivable with a few mods on a 12R and a 10R for that matter, but this thing will rock IMO on the drag strip especially if the motor can easily/reliably be tweaked with a big bore kit unlike the 12R, thats why so many liked the Busa because of its engine.

Doesn't it look great slammed (lowered) like a 10R on steriods

9.36 @ 147.71...8.73 @ 154.55

Seems weird. I watched a stock bussa run a 9.63@153mph in '99. That would suggest the 14 gets a better kick off the line and the bussa accelerates better at higher speed. Would be interesting to watch a few side by side runs.

keep in mind its not completely stock, they have lowered it to buggery so that it just wont wheelie - thus the 1.5 second 60 foot times. no normal road going bike will ever pull such 60 footers

ive seen a lowered/strapped/pipe/geared ZX10R video floating around where it pulls about 9.3 @ 150mph ..

still i would say there is still more in it, as the bike was probably hardly worn in

...also known as 91 RON.

I guess when you've got this many cubic inches to play with, you don't need to have such a high state of tune to achieve incredible performance.
