Dropped the bike off this morning.

BTW, if you are anal about things, even brand new bikes are usually a little out! :shock:

First thing we used to do with a new (read brand new off the floor new) bike we intended to race, is strip it and send it off to check the frame, swingarm and triple clamps are all true! :)

This might be a dumb thought but I expected you would have to strip it down more before having it checked out. I've never had it done but just kinda assumed. Good luck.

Can you remember the *dramas* with the GSX-R750's when they were first released ???? :shock: :shock: :shock: :x :x :x

no shit, some of these things were measured up on the GMD frame jig, and had swingarm pivots offset by as much as 7-8mm, frames with offset between s/arm pivot and st/head as much as 5mm, and more.........

the term *dogs breakfast* comes to mind......

A lot of early alloy frames were junk. ZX6F1 frames can be bent by tying them down too hard on the front forks! :lol:

That reminds me the the frame straightener guy told me not to touch a ZX6R built before 1998 cos the frames crack. He even said if its not cracked when you buy it it will crack.

Apparently he'll check the forks then wip em off and then put the frame in the jig via the steering head.

I'll be surprised if i notice a difference when it comes back, my tastes aren't too sophisticated when it comes to handling adjustments.

i brought it bent and i thought it was the ducks nuts as it was. This time the bend is obvious so now i have to do something about it.

Damn i just got back from the frame straightener, both forks and fork legs are bent, triple clamps twisted, disks out by 40 thou, front axle bent at the end... :cry:

The frame hasn't even made it into the jig yet and the cost has doubled...

Most of this damage was wreaked by the guy i brought the bike off when he flipped it into a ditch...and its STILL the best handling bike I've ridden.

Makes me wonder how much better its going to be straight.

Reckon I'll put the trackie in once i get this one back.

who did ya take it to theres a few in brissy and they will all give you a different story i used dave kellet he was real good and tells it like it is but its allways good to get a second opinion usually prices will differ heaps too depending on how much work they got on.

yeah the bike has gone to Dave Kellet, hes not real keen on letting me get the bike back till its 100% straight.

I really only wanted the rear subframe fixed because it was obviously bent. I'll get the whole bike straightened and the cost/benefit will determine whether i get my trackie done or not.

it all looked pretty straight in the pics was the rear cowl damaged how bad is the sub frame i have got one off munkeegirls old zx6 it looks straight.

my zzr used to do that. the forks were twisted. 5 minute fixit job that I didn't get charged for.

Was that before or after you qualified for team crashed '05? ;-)

I'd almost swear my bike steers left better than it steers right. Maybe it does.
