zx2r Light Globe-I got 315km per tank from it!! YEEEEEEE HAA

Postby hidepenny » Tue Feb 14, 2006 3:13 pm

rode my bike these few days, got too much to do and didn't even have chance to check the fuel gauage and when i looked at it now it's already 315km that i run so far, and quickly ran down to the local station and filled it up and cost me $17.80 for full tank at $1.19 premium petrol price, so it's about 14 Litre?

anyway, so 4 Litre will get me 100km?? wow how econimical is this stuff??

also just took my light globes down thinking to change to one of those whitty ones for better vision.

anyone got a cheap place for phillips globe, i think mine is H3 type

i used to get about 4.5L/100km from my old cbr250

a GPX or ZZR will get slightly better figures too

You must be being overtaken by tinlids getting nearly 500km out of a tank. I am happy if I get 200km w/out needing reserve!!

If I go through the hills riding with friends I'll get 160km before reserve on my ZXR250.

A track day I'll get about 110 before reserve

A lot of stuff affects the milage...

1. The type of fuel you use
2. The type of riding (straight line rides on a straight save petrol)
3. Wind direction (this actually makes quite a big difference)
4. Weight (of the bike and of you too)
5. Riding style (How far you pull on the throttle every time you accellerate)
6. What gear you ride in (obviously at 100Kmph in 5th gear uses more than the same speed in 6th gear).
7. Aerodynamics
The world is round. It has no point.

I'm always a little under or around 200km before I look in the tank and it looks empty.

If you're getting more kms, you're not riding hard enough.

'Ride it hard or don't ride it at all'

I just find it goes easier when I keep mine (cruising) above 7,000 under that and it just doesn't have anything. Shift at 10,000 - 11,000. (That's normal commuting!)

Agree 100% with your list, but #6 got me thinking.......there is something else to consider with fuel economy and gearing. The best fuel economy you will achieve in any gear is closely tied to the torque curve of your motor - the motor is at its most economical when you are riding right at the peak of the torque curve......

I have attached the stock factory dyno chart for my fuellie Z, it includes the fuel-economy curve at the bottom. The most economical revs are about 6,300rpm, using stock gearing, this equates to *approx* 140kmh   Although the difference is only *slight* from 5 thru 7 grand.....

If your bike is at the top of its torque curve at 100kmh in 5th gear, it will actually be slightly more economical than if you clicked up a gear to 6th......

Fark Me Gos, What The?

If ya wring it's neck you use more juice....

If ya use the factory advised wringing of the neck you use slightly less juice....

But if ya have no idea what the graph means ya put more juice in the tank when it looks like she needs some then ya ok... 8)

So wring it neck anyway....

cheers
