Sue Gobert says:

What the article in the newspaper did not say is that Anthony completed rehab (at his own instigation) and has now been clean for many, many months.

The offences occurred a long time ago but the court hearing
was adjourned a couple of times so there has been a big gap
between the time of the offences and the court hearing.

If this is true, then why did the Camden Advertiser newspaper report in on February 1st? I really does appear to be someone trying to make trouble for Anthony. He should be given credit for maintaining his sobriety...only time will tell. I, for one, would like to see him continue racing in the Australian Superbike series.

iamwithstupid.gif even had third and possibly fourth chances. That the bloke was addicted to smack (clean now they say) and has fucked up because of it is noone elses fault bar himself.

FWIW if I was running a MotoGp or Superbike team I wouldn't have a bar of him for at the absolute least another 12 months, regardless how talented he is.

Bloke has had many chances and fucked up everytime so time to learn the lesson the hard way I reckon and let him race 80cc mini bikes in the back blocks of Alice Springs for a year or something.

Full copy of Sue Gobert's letter below. Please all show some understanding and empathy. Drugs, of any kind can be a ruthless master, heroin being perhaps one of the worst (some say best). If you have had a brother or sister, or a friend or relative lose there will and life to it, then you will know how it feels and the need for encouragement and support for Anthony and especially his family. I for one will remain fiercely loyal to him. I will always be there to support him and hope and pray he may beat this and return to some semblance of a normal life. Best wishes for you and your family Anthony. Should you or your family read this, then know there are still people out there who believe in you and support you. I will be cheering from the fence for you whenever I have the opportunity! Best wishes.

"I am shocked to see all the letters about Anthony all over the web today. What the article in the newspaper did not say is that Anthony completed rehab (at his own instigation) and has now been clean for many, many months. The offences occurred a long time ago but the court hearing was adjourned a couple of times so there has been a big gap between the time of the offences and the court hearing.

This is the reason why he was not jailed but only given such a minor penalty compared to what he should have received because the judge was happy that Anthony had taken steps to turn his life around and is now completely drug free.

Anthony has had a serious drug problem for some time and has been fighting it for years, sometimes winning, sometimes not.

The "TALL POPPY SYNDROME" is alive and well in Australia and there are still many jealous people who just live to cause havoc to some people whom they consider to be better off than themselves.

Anthony has hurt himself more than anything and has tried very hard over the years to overcome his addiction. Some faceless person has sent the newspaper to every journalist worldwide and also to every one who is some way involved in the sport of motor cycle racing. It seems so unfair that he should be treated this way when he has finally overcome his addiction and was starting to get his life back together.

So, I would be grateful if you could print this letter or some form of comment from me to stop all the uninformed discussion.

Thank you,

Sue Gobert"

I didn't mean to embarass or belittle any one. I just felt some may not have understood completely the full story. :(

At the end of the day, he is one of us! A motorcyclist first and foremost, and maybe some positive feedback and support, and the knowledge that he still has fans out there may just help in some small way on his road to recovery. :supz:

The best way to show everybody is pull his finger out, Train his ASS off & kick some peoples butts on the track!

If he can prove to everybody that he's still the Go-Show & do well I'm sure he will get good support, if he has to work 200% harder to get there than everyone else so be it, but all the more reason to do it & the victory at the end of the day will be ever so sweeter!

I remember him bagging Mick Doohan many many years ago something about Mick being old & beating the younger fellas & that was only because the younger fellas were not trying hard enough. :?:

ok..maybe i should blame my driving record on drugs??

"i was speeding your honour cos i was in a hurry to get home to the beer, as im a beer addict..tho ive been clean for 38minutes.....have u got a mini bar here sir??"

the funny thing is...Camden is a town abt 30 min sth of sydney, with a population of only abt 20,000 ppl....and i cant imagine the paper has a HUGE circulation...so for this story to get out so widespread, theres a lot of ppl with nothing better to do....tall poppy's id say...

for wot its worth...id like to see him prove a point, clean himself up & do well, but as ppl have said...hes had abt 12 chances already...

According to Sue Gobert, "Some faceless person has sent the newspaper to every journalist worldwide and also to every one who is some way involved in the sport of motorcycle racing."
It seems to me that someone has a beef with Anthony which is hard to believe since he is known to be such a friendly guy. The one good thing about this coming out is that it just shows you how many people still want him to succeed and maybe this will give him even more incentive to show everyone he can.
