GPX250 can do wheelie!!!

I thought I would try taking off a little faster than usual. Normally I take it carefully until I have my feet on the pegs and clutch fully out. This time I took the revs to about 5k and kinda dropped the clutch. I was taken by surprise and nearly shat myself but contained my bowel movements for the brief second when they just wanted to let go when the front wheel lifted about 15mm at a guess. This makes me wonder...how possible it it to do a wheelie with a little movement...ie get wheel up at say 40km/h? Not that I would try it but just so I dont do it accidently and crap myself again.

Hehe - not that I'm an expert on wheelies in the least (never done one), but from all the stuff I've ready about wheelies on a 250, you pretty much have to love the idea of spending money on your gearbox as it's completely oimpossible to power the front end up (read: nicer on engine internals). The only way you'd do it would be from dropping the clutch at a bout 10k from standstill whilst yanking on the bars

I have wheelied a 2 cylinder 150.... (although it was on purpose, I wasnt expecting the size and distance of my wheelie.... It was scary at the time)...

Look.. I have a mate who can wheelie just about everything you can imagine.... I have seen him wheelie a 50cc scooter around a roundabout... I have seen him wheelie hundreds of bikes.... Even bikes that you would say "no way is he going to be able to wheelie that"....

Trust me... it can be done...

Whether it can be done BY YOU is a different story... hehehehe

Nice Nannarin' Narfie. Mate it can be done but it aint designed for it.
without the skills to do it you will kill you bike in one way or another just ask Yankee.

yep that'll do it ... no need to yank on the bars. it'll come up f'in quick. just ask vince he saw the whole thing and still hasn't stopped laughing.

my mate totaled my gpx250 by doing a wheelie at 20kph. he did it up hill, "pulled like fuck" on the bars and leaned back

not a good idea to pull back. it really messes up your balance.

start at some low speed (preferably 0-20kmh) in first, bring the clutch in, rev the crap out of it and let the clutch out. the front will come up nicely. don't slip the clutch too much or u'll fry it.

oh and i just remembered the last wheelie i did:

the truck in front of me came to almost a standstill, so i revved the buggery out of the bike and dropped it into first to overtake, resulting in a scary little sideways wheelie that felt like i was falling

Yeah after a bit of trying myself i eventually decided i probably couldn't *afford* to try any more wheelies on the ZZR250 as it did seem to make my clutch a little slipperier But basically leaning back lots, and revving the crud out of it and dumping the clutch will work.

If your clutched is even slightly knackered though it'll slip too much and it won't work so well.
