now i know this is a kawasaki forum, however, due to any 2003 + zx-6r priced at $9.5k+, there's no way that i could afford smoething at the moment or even in this year,
So why not get a pre-2003 ZX6, then?
how good are these gsxr600 99 model????
Good enough. The chassis is pure racebike (once you get over the bulbous tank), let down a bit by a none-too-grunty motor, cut-price rear shock and bodgy finish in places (headlight attaches to the top fairing by self-tapping screws, for example).
The 99 GSX-R600 I had for a while was an ex-TAAFS racebike, with all the good stuff on it and the motor tuned to fatten up the midrange. That thing rocked harder than Iron Maiden in the early 80's, with the motor and suspension action able to match the chassis. On the stock bike, the motor's rowdy and exciting, but was pretty much the weakest in the class when it was new.
The first-generation (L/M-model) R6 and the J-model ZX6 are both better bikes in almost every regard.
