Strika mate I went through what your doing now about 6 years ago ... dont look back.

Hard to let go of sports bike style as I'd always considered meself a "sports rider" but pain rmade riding a chore so I did and you gotta know it's no different in on the road performance, name the pace. From your posts it looks like you are having trouble with the concept but just get a naked and take a load off. What do you lose in real life? Nakeds like the Z1000 gives you pretty much everything but the fairing (and the sore back).

I reckon that the ZRX1200R is a great bike but also recognise some restraints in the model. Yes it is heavy when pushed and I'd hate to go against myself on a Z1000 on it?! :? It'd sure be a lot more work on the ZRX, but probably doable. I love it because of the comfort and versatility. The wind blast isn't an issue normally and the bikini does a pretty good job, if the wind is a problem then the speeds getting paranormal. I do actually LOVE the look of 'em and they are totally practical - they do everything. Punted mine around Broadfordtrack days, commuted and hit the spurs and interstate too, no problem and can also tie on luggage with ease. They are a blokes bike.

Many other great nakeds out there though and the KTM is a good one. If your in that sort of $ bracket then theres also the Brutale and the new retro style ducatis are interesting.

Posted by a current ZRX rider 8), hope it helps.

Yeah I agree the KTM is really nice despite of the awful sound.

What about those new sports BMWs ? I saw two of them running around PI during the MotoGP. Carbonated stuff and all. They're nice.

Just don't start thinking about that VSRC, enough compromise already

didn't end up riding today. Checked myself and remembered that it is due for a service, tyres, brake pads etc., so thought better trade it in instead! So I loaded it on the trailer and did some looking around today.

It is becoming harder to find a black 05 ZX10, and even harder again to find a Green 05 ZX10. All the shops I had spotted some in two weeks ago, have sold theirs or only have the silver left. I wont buy the silver. So I searched a little in vain today.

I did drop in to an unnamed dealer who had a new 2004 ZX10 in green still on the floor, but he was not willing to sell it for any less than he could do a 2005 one for?????? :? I hope he enjoys lighting the candles on the birthday cake again next year for it!

I have had numbers tossed at me for my trade in that varied by $2500 from highest to lowest, all with the same sell price on the bike I was looking at purchasing. :?

One dealer copped a nice little verbal spray from me, as he was being an argumentative dickhead! Some people make it so hard to give them money???? I had to virtually beg them to work me out a changeover figure????? So I let fly! I said, "Mate I have been buying and selling these things since before you could wipe your own arse, and I have never had this much trouble trying to buy a fcuking motorbike..........." I then suggested he go back to salesperson school and learn how to communicate with customers. What a wanker.! If you are reading this you tosser I am the guy with the W.A. Plates on the Jeep with the KLX and ZX6 on the trailer up the laneway! And I still think you are perhaps the greatest air waster I have come across in sales so far in my short time on this planet. Go get some training. (rant ends here)

Another dealer I went to offered me a great deal, but did not have enough money to trade in my bike!!!! I hope they don't owe any of you money????

Soooo I rang a mate who sells Hondas, and I am going to drop in and see what he can do for me. I am going to have a look at a fireblade. Sorry to turn from Green to Red, but the Green dealers are not making my wallet green with envy at the moment, or are not human enough for me to hand them my cash! I am going to look at a CBR1000RR in the AM. I have ridden one at Wanneroo when they released them and thought they were OK. If the deal is right, I may have a Honda in the toy box tommorrow night, safely nestling amongst my other two green Kwakas! :D

It's a shame the sales staff treat you as just another tyre-kicker. Maybe he is not on commission and couldn't be arsed with haggling!!
I have heard the GSXR1000 is very comfy compared to the Blade (and is lighter) but due to their popularity I don't reckon you could haggle much violent1.gif

why doncha get the same style of bike as the 636, only heavier and more powerful

That should be a lot easier on the back. XXbuzzsaw.gif

Well I have just returned from a little get-to-know-you/run-in-the-motor, ride of around 300klms.

I exited Che` Strika at about 7.30am this morning in order to beat the heat! And it was achieved! :D

Jumped on the West Gate with a full tank of fuel courtesy of New World Honda (Yeah after all the crunching I did on price and the freebies they gave me, they still filled it up full of premium! ) I intended doing this, as this is one of the areas that I suffered with my 636. I got to Pakenham by the time i realised that I had gone too far, as i intended going up F.T.Gully Rd, and in the back way thru Wandin to Warby. Yeah for sure it's comfy. I sat on $1.40-$1.60 for 15 mins on the fwy to see what the wind effect is and privided I tuck in a little like you do on a sports bike, then it is almost identical in wind protection to the 636, even as an all day thing. :)

It took me till the top of the reefton spur before I started to really get a feel for how it turns and steers, and what little idiocyncracies it may have. It stands up a little more than a sports bike if you brake while cranked over, but can be compensated with a little opposite bar pressure. It turns into a turn in a completely different manner. I will talk more about it once I really have it sussed as to what it's doing. ATM, it is still an unfamiliar bike, on umfamiliar tyres, so I am treading a little cautiously

I def think a flatter, more squared up set of bars will benefit me, as i think a couple of degrees more forward lean will be perfect for me. So will investigate those next week.

Ground clearance , appears at this early stage to be adequate. I did not scrape my pegs once at all today, although I was probably operating at 3/4 of my normal pace to learn the bike and run in the engine.

I had a play a few times, but as I was on my own, didn't press on too much, as I had no recovery buddies to pull me out of the bushes if neccessarry!

But I can say this. The Hornet has a really nice fat bit of torque and power between 5 and 7 that will not only lay blackies, but spin the arse end up too! But not in a vicious spit you off way, in a gentle, drifting kinda way! Noice!

For any one interested we are meeting at about 9.00am at the corner of Spencer and Blenhiem st's St Kilda on Friday Morning to repeat the two spurs run! Then you can get to check out if I actually did buy a Hornet, or if I really bought a Blade!
