Itchy Nose!!

Postby kwakarider00 » Fri Jan 20, 2006 12:55 pm

Hey Guys.
Quite regularly, but not all the time, I get a terribly itchy Nose - I'm assuming from the buzzing or Vibes from the Airflow/Screen/Visor. Hard as I try, I cannot ignore it and it becomes a real distraction when blasting through the twisty bits. Visor open or closed, it makes no difference.
I've noticed that the Race Boys wear a little strip of sticking plaster on their nose as was wondering if this was related.
Any help or insights would be appreciated.

The little strip is so that they keep the airways open - not for itchy noses.

I would suggest seeing a doctor about it - never know what advice they might have!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's an allergic reaction to airborne particles (pollen, dust, etc).

You're possibly copping a lot more of these irritants riding a bike than you would driving along in a car (well, unless you drive with all the windows down and your head out the window), particularly if you're out in the country and it's dry weather.

If you can't get to the doctor try any of Telnase, Rhinochort, Beconase, Azep (Azep leaves a bad taste but works well). It could also be that your nose is drying out, in that case there is some saline spray stuff that you can get, I forget that its called.

You know, it's funny you bring this up. Everytime I put my helmet on, my nose gets itchy. It's not my nostril hairs because I get those waxed, and I don't have a problem with allergies. Besides that, it's always right on the end of my nose.

Drives me insane!

I too suffer from this affliction, thought it was just me. Sort of nice to know that others also have this problem if you know what I mean.
I just throw the visor open and scratch away but as kwakarider00 says it gets very difficult when riding in the twisty bits, I shall try some of the suggestions mentioned, thanks.

You can buy non-drwosy anti-histamine tablets, such as Clarama, Claratyne or Telfast. They aren't quite as effective as the original preperations such as Phernegan, but they will do the job.
Cheers,
Anne
