A Noo Guy from Tas

Postby Eh-Wot » Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:04 pm

Hi All, Just doing the right thing and saying G'day........

"G'Day" :D

On a bit of a snap decision I picked up an '87 GPx750R the other day, mechanically swoit moit, bit rough in the bodywork, as you'd expect from a 20 yo bike. It's going to be my commuter and long term project.

I'm an old fart (45) and tend to like the '80's style bikes over the latest refugees from a transformers cartoon the young fellas ride, with the "look at moi" paint and engines that sound like two strokes on heat (ducking and puts on flame proof suit  )

Some previous owner has added 4-1 stainless headers, and a "no name" aluminium can that resembles a staintune, dunno if it's been jetted to suit. It's farkin loud!

I'm gunna respray it after I sort out all the typical fairing cracks and broken plastic mounts, when the fairings are off being repaired I'll sus out whether a "street fighter" mod is worth the effort (called "cafe racer" in my day  )

Anyone with knowledge of GPx750's, or some inspired ideas for the beast. I'd be glad to hear (read) them.

Cheers
Jim

G'day matem

Welcome aboard..

Snug huh.. Used to live in Swansea, Hastings. Parents are now in Kingston. But I've been in Melb for just over 6 years.

Good luck with the scoot.. If you want some ideas, I'd recommend you do a search on Tim's 750.. He's spent alot of time, effort of money on that baby and she's red hot... 775 now I believe and a sweet new custom colour scheme. Dunno if he's getting on here much but do a search on the forums and see if you can find it.. If not let me know and I'll try to dig it up.

Thanks for the welcome :D

I've seen a few of the posts re: Tim megadollar Gpx, I'll search for some more.

As for age, well growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional
