Postby blades-gone » Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:42 pm

Hi all, New to this forum and needed some help. Sold my 96 blade and I am considering buying a 98 zx-7, just need to no a few things like ride position how friendly is it compared to a 96 blade and how would you compare power. Any one who has ridden a blade and could compare please let me know. Cheers

I thought nekas CBR was later than '96?

Anyway.. the main problem with the ZX7R is that they're pretty overpriced... you can get a similar vintage ZX9R for the same money and from what I've seen they're a better bike, making a great road bike, track weapon and tourer all in one.

I don't imagine a ZX7R would be that much lower than a ZX9R.

I'm 5'7" and have no problems riding anything short of a dual-sports, motard or trail bike.

i would dare say the zx9r would be easier for shorter people... the 7R has high pegs and an ungodly seating position, where the 9R is comfy as.... the CBR900's have always been reasonably comfy too, with upright seating positions compared to ZX7R's, GSXR750's etc... hell even the 1000RR has a upright-ish position on it

power might be similar ball park, but definately not an upgrade from the CBR9

go the 9R 8)

yeah, the 9 is just a tourer in sportsbike clothers :P :P :P

7 is an awesome bike i reckon, so firmly planted i reckon you'd need a 6foot crowbar to pry a wheel off the ground. but then, thats also one of the problems, they're HEAVY biatches for sportsbikes. and dont go thinking the 7 is smaller either, BIG mistake, its gotta be the biggest bike i've ridden besides my dads 81 cb900 (that things a fcuking behemouth).

power is good, not bad in the bottom end, but ball tearing up near the top. the seat is a killer, worse than the plank of wood they pass for a seat on the blade and the bars make a GSXR750 feel comfy  the blade is smaller, lighter and has more power, the big draw with the 7 is the planted feel its got. you gotta tell it what to do properly, but once its doing it, it wont give you any suprises. basically, its a race bike made with no comfort features for the road, handles like every bike should, but your ass and back pay for it
