Fueling issue (?) with '01 ZX6R

I balanced mine at about 12,000km. They were a fair bit out. Being a slackarse, I then didn't touch then until I got my Carbtune early last year. They needed a slight tweak.

They haven't budged in the 15-20,000km since.

I'm really starting to get tempted to skip a carb balance check the next time I've got the tank off.

If you haven't got a rough-ish idle, then you probably could overlook a balance - 15-20k is not *too* long a gap, Dans had done nearly 30k

Having said that, I only ever balanced the butterflies on the z1000 every couple of years anyway ( no slides, I love DFI ), and they only ever need a *slight* tweaking......

bloody carburettors are more trouble than their worth

that balance on the 6 in the photo is not too bad anyway, its only #3 carb that is slightly out of kilter, and I reckon the idle may have been *reasonably* good anyway ? Still, always good to get the balance just right.

Got back from a test run not too long ago - carbs balanced and she's running smooth as. I'm pretty sure she's fixed and good as new.

Will be definite after Monday morning's blat up and down the old road, but pretty certain she's all sorted. No surging and throttle response is much more fun.

sounds like its sorted... still, do you know if the mechanic pulled the carbs down? it never hurts to strip them down and make sure everythings clean, blow compressed air down any hole or jet, and make sure the floats are at the standard setting (or maybe slightly different if you have a pipe or a K&N) as well as the pilot screws... if the 6R is anything like the 9R, then its a dead easy job to do, ive probably had my carbys off 10 times now and ive only had the bike 2 months and i still gotta get my float level right

Gos, So your telling me if I get my carb's balance finally after over 30K I'll go quicker round the island than 1.56's...

Will see how she rungs when I get Corrie's Yoshi, the kerker has a few holes in the Carbon Fibre, which helps with the extra popping on the back off, but I'm sure it doesn't help with the engines back pressure.
