Ok whoever owns or has owned a Mopar of any kind post it up here. This is to avoid the thread hijacking that a few of us got into in another thread.

James your old slant sounds awsome, very keen for pics of that.

Ok, my current Mopar fleet is down to 2: My Charger and a VE Valiant.

The Charger is a 1971 VH deluxe (not far from base model) with a 265 Hemi and auto trans. I have a 360 here that was originally going to go into it, but my brother and I are considering putting a cammed 318 from his CM into it, with 360 J heads, 650 double pump with Weiand Manifold, decent Extractors and a few other bits and pieces. Will run a 727 with S2 shift kit and stally, and whatever diff gears we can find with a spool in the standard housing. Just a cheapie build up to give us something moderately fast on four wheels.

The VE is a standard 225 slant that has some kind of missing problem ATM (no the car is not lost; the engine is running funny :lol: ) . I have to pull the head to find out what is going on, but once it is sorted I will run it stock with a 500 2bbl Holley and extractors. Just a family type cruiser, so bench seats and unassisted drums all round will be staying, as will the column shifted auto. Also a (very) cheap do up, the car is nothing special to look at or drive, but hey it's a Val.

I have also owned 3 Centuras, 2 VG sedans; one of which was 265 4spd, a VG coupe (complete with folding bench seats), an AP5 with V8 auto, a CL wagon which actually went really quick with a nice rebuilt Hemi (from one of the Centuras), and another Charger apart from the current one.

My only indiscretions have been a 351 XY falc and a 67 Rambler Rebel V8.

All of the above is the reason I have only recently gotten into bikes.

Maaaate...VE nothing special? Wash your mouth out young man! Best car I ever had - for the money. I bought one a few years ago after I stacked a Mazda - needed something cheap. Found an old VE in the sticks for $650 - it ran and it had no rust (was on a farm 1.5 hours west of Gympie). Spent a grand total of $600 to get RWC (including a new windscreen).

I sold it about a year later for $1800 :lol:

It was a great hack, and I often wish I'd kept it. Been told by a brake guy in Nambour, who knew these cars quite well, that later model power assist units can be bolted in quite easily to improve the brakes. Nearly did it too, but I was keen to put my new Mazda on the road - ground up rebuild...so the Valiant went.

I went to your website and saw your stuff, too bad were not neigbors, we'd be good friends. I like your stuff. Like I told you before my Dad was into them. I drove big 440ci station wagens and we had a slant six in a Duster when I was a kid, as the needle went up the gas gauge went down about just as fast.
Funny Dad said he liked Mopar because they were the cheaper car. Not anymore, your 71 Charger if completly stock would fetch bigger money than if it were a Ford or Chevy.
Anyway if I can help you with obtaining any parts let me know.
I know you also like Turbo's, I've owned a few. The Mitsubishi is a Turbo that I haven't touched yet. Funny I own two Mopars, one VW and one Mitsubishi, guess which one was built in the states..... :lol: :lol:

mate ur insane.
the only indiscretion here is that u had an xy and spent all ur money on a friggin charger! stupidiy IMO. :wink:

my mate is building a hq ute for the drags, but wants it street registered, so he aint goin incredibly stupid.
he started with an hj front end, 454 big block 750 carbs (dunno what sort), once its registered he's goin up to 1350s. :shock:
shit load of work done to the chassis. full tubs, pizza cutters on the front (well not really, but compared to the 15 inch wide wheels on the back, they friggin look like em) race shifter, and a bottle of nitrous just for good measure. (as well as other bits 'n pieces i can't think of right now).

should do pretty well.
he'll give the 9 a serious run for its mooney. assuming he can keep it straight. lol

but hey, end of the day, it aint a ford.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Diesel: Sounds like a pretty full on 'street car' to me. Will it see the street much? Anyway it is something that we northerners just cannot get away with up here, our rego laws suck. And GMs and Fords are just run of the mill gear, why have standard when you can have real performance and style, as well as something a little exclusive? It's kinda like owning Kwakas instead of boring old Hondas and Yam.....I mean Suzukis. :lol:

Uncle Sam: My website is way old (and crap), I really should update it with something from the last 5 years :lol: . Will try to get around to getting some pics up soon. Mate that new Hemi is THE GEAR. Does it go as good as they say it does? Would be a great engine for the Charger when they get a bit more common and affordable (yeah right). And yeah I wouldn't mind getting some bits from the States when fundage allows, thanks a lot for the offer, I might take you up on it in the future!

Felix: When I say nothing special, I just mean it isn't going to break any speed records. I secretly love the thing, even though the only 'reason' I got it was so the missus could have a Mopar. :wink: I really want to get it on the road, it will make a great cruiser, 6 seats and all. And a slant with 500 holley and good extractors should be quick enough to get to highway speeds. :lol:

Everyone else who didn't know what Mopar was: I am so very sorry, your lives must feel very empty... :shock: :lol: :lol: :lol: 8) :roll: :twisted:

Heh Hemi - I owned an old Val once, it was a VC ute, nicknamed 'Brutus' - what a weapon :wink: ........225 slanty, 350 Holley, really nice tuned length headers ( I think they were H & M ?), it only had a 3 speed, but I bunged in a Speco Thomas floor shifter :twisted: (as you do).

I ran the exhaust straight out the drivers side, just in front of the rear wheels :shock: , it sounded horn mate..

Also fitted up some plain-jane 8" wheels, fitted with 245/50 T/A's ( a bit of a waste of money, but they filled out the guards nicely...), and one thing I *really* loved was the wind-down suspension :shock: :lol: :lol:

Not long after the following photos were taken, the bodywork was completed, but no photos, I sold it :cry: - always a good dependable solid workhorse. I have a bit of a soft spot for Team Mopar......
