In relation to a previous discussion I figured I'd throw this out there to see what ppls opinions are and if theres any interest in specific newbie rides, or quick rides, etc...

Please discuss this as I think there is merit in doing a few newbie rides and maintenance days to help out the newer riders.
A little time and help here can save a lot of problems later..

I selected that only newbie rides or more importantly "less experienced riders" rides be posted.

This I'm sure will not stop the more experienced of riders to ride along and enjoy the day as well.

But, it should not stop or preturb those same "less experienced" riders from attending other rides.

See, I can be compomised or is that, I can compromise... :shock:

When I first started riding in April last year, there were a certain few very experienced riders who were extremely patient and very willing to give good advice. They also came over for a chat and check-up at almost every smoko stop and made sure I had a hand parking that enormous black thing (that I now love dearly!) on gravel and footpaths etc - which were intimidating for a new rider who could hardly touch the ground.

Their help was invaluable to me and I very much appreciate them sacraficing their ride to look out for me. Same to all the tail-end-charlie's. It also meant that those who weren't interested in looking out for newbies could go off and cut laps as fast as they liked.

I voted for posting newbie rides labelled as such, but if it doesn't go ahead, from my experience KSRC is incredibly good at looking after it's newbies.

I also went for "Only Newbies" ONLY because I have seen anther forum ride day and I SHIT myself. Had I of been on my bike then I would have for sure crashed or hurt someone else. I HATE being passed on bends as I am a new rider and WANT THE WHOLE ROAD. I will say this tough when a ride was arranged by you guys not to long ago I wanted to come and was advised that I could go at my own pace and that I should feel no pressure and that I will not be left alone. To me that made me feel part of a HUGE family and I am more than happy to go on all rides now. Cept the VERY fast ones :lol:

i chose the last option cos i think its better that those who wann go for a real scratch make it clear what they wanna do, 1. so they don't get bored and 2. so anyone not up to the task doesn't out ride themselves or get bored on they're on own.
hell if a couple of the guys said they were goin for a real scream, i doubt very much i'd rock up.

some people wanna go for hell for leather scratchin runs, which isn't suitable for all levels, that should be said. If people are planning a newbie ride with easier roads, regular stops to teach and evaluate it also needs to be said. Otherwise it's a free for all and we will cater for everyone as always.

I voted, all rides open to all members, which I think they r anyway. If ppl want to go fast, let them, if ppl want to go slow,let them. As long as you enjoy the day, who cares. There is no pressure to keep up with anyone, we all had to start from the beginning, so the more experienced have to understand. Just tell ppl where ya goin' and someone can be a corner marker?

I reckon that all rides should be open to anyone. In the early days (Yahoo Groups) we seemed to always have a learner with us who was always looked after by the more exp. guys.

In fact I could name four or five 'very well thought of riders of today that were on their first ride ever with the group only 18 months/2 years ago.

Certain guys in VIC will always hang back (not fast enough anymore not to) and keep an eye on the newbs. I can only talk about the guys in VIC but there are MANY riders here who have shown that they are willing to assist those with less exp/more fear.

I won't name names, (Stace and Scotty), however two of our fastest/maddest riders in VIC have also proven to be the most caring of those with a bit to learn.

Happy to keep it the way it is. And if I remember correctly, both Bobby and Mina had their first group ride in the rain on the GOR.

Let's ride more and debate less.

I voted " only newbie rides should labelled all others are open"

the reason being that the newer members/newer riders should
not feel intimidated/under pressure on any of our group rides
and the way to ensure newbies get out with us..is to let them know
that the ride will cater specially for them.

We have enuff 'full on' rides where the maddies take off into the
distance and/or act as corner markers and the guys who go on these rides
know the ropes.

As I see it , the trick is to get the newbies onto a ride
Once out there, the older/experienced guys (for eg PC me Rob)
can keep an eye on them, give hints and point out errors.

I voted "only newbie rides" ...

Having said that, I believe newbies should be made very welcome on all other rides as well, as happens now. The newbie specific rides should only be marked (or have something in the description) so that those who would be bored/not want to hang around know. They'd still be welcome to come along, but it'd be up to them whether they rock up and then nick off in search of the ever elusive warp 10.

This does not mean that I am for segregating the group, but simply having a warning on the type of ride planned.

as you found out....
there are 3 rules on our KSRC rides
-the maddies bugger off and then wait for the rest to catch up
-others? go at your own pace (TEC will be behind you)
and
-NEVER EVER EVER pass anyone on a corner
